Has anyone got a 270 degree type awning going on? Really don't want a roof rack but seems to be only real way to mount one of these awnings. Who has a roof rack & do you recommend yours

Only awning I've found without a roof rack (adhesive anchors on roof) is the Moonshade and that's just a standard single sided type

I have an OVS 270 mounted on my gobi rack and it works great. We've used it freestanding and with poles and guys and it works great either way. It has good tailgate coverage and protection in the rain.


Op. Before I had the awning I had an awning like that moonshade thing I picked up Amazon for a little over 100 bucks. It actually worked well over the tailgate and set up was quick and easy.

Any simple DIY set ups with a tarp for a 2 door soft top?

I did one. 2 door, 4 door, soft top, hard top, doesn't matter. It basically lay over the roof and was not attached. It could be done better than I have here.

This is a great idea, works for all models and tops! Very cost effective.
What size tarp did you use?

Imo a gazelle gazebo beats any awning. Sets up in 1 minute and with a mr. Buddy heater you have heated shelter. Can set it up anywhere too.

These awnings are overpriced. That $1750 awning from the rooftop tent company is a joke.

Check out moonshade if you want a portable awning.
