I see reference to Auto High Beams (if equipped) in the owners manual. How would I know if I have auto high beams?

Wranglers don’t have the option. I just looked and don’t see the reference to auto high beams. Are you sure you’re not thinking of auto headlights?

I had these on a 2017 GC and when turned on would automatically change from high to low based on the lights that are facing you. The vehicle detects the lights in front of you and will dim them and then will put them back on high beams when the light passes. They are not perfect and I kept them turned off just like I kept the rain sensing wipers turned off.

The time when these would be useful would be when travelling on the highway. Those long stretches of road where they would only change every once in a while. Attempting to use them any other place like a back road, they just never worked very well. They would change at the wrong times, not necessarily when you expected them to. I'm sure they will get better in time but for me they stayed off.

I had the automatic high beams on a 2017 outback and they worked great. Miss them on the wrangler - but they probably wouldn't work as well

Just had a 2019 F150 with these things. Would turn off when a sign reflected just right. Got into the screens and turned it off. PITA, IMO. Don't need these dang nanny systems making decisions for me.

Probably is not feasible on a vehicle with a fold down windshield. The light sensor is located on the rear mirror assembly which folds down with the windshield. If Jeep offered a fixed windshield option on the wrangler then you could add rain and light sensors.

Not that I'm a huge fan of auto high beams anyway (had it on last vehicle, kind of a PITA) - but it would be possible on a Wrangler. I would think not much more complicated than adding adaptive cruise control (forward facing camera behind rear-view), which they did and it works fine.

Also coming from a 2017 Outback. I think the Subaru system was well designed. Sensed taillights, too. For instance, if on a road, no oncoming traffic, but closing on car in front, they also dimmed. I think they worked well. Only a few times they were not as fast to dim. Usually coming around a corner. So the technology can be implemented to work well.

The current model Wrangler, the mirror does NOT fold with the windshield.

I guess at the end of the day, if the demand is there, jeep will make it work.

Page 560 of the 2019 All New Wrangler Owner's Manual as a Uconnect on/off setting:

"Auto Dim High Beams — If Equipped On Off
NOTE:
When the ā€œAuto Dim High Beamsā€ feature is selected, the high beam headlights activate/deactivate automatically under
certain conditions."

My JLR has everything except towing and cold weather. I didn't think I had them but since they were referenced in the manual as "if equipped" thought I'd check if others did.
