Does anyone know if they will be releasing and special edition Rubicons such as the Recon? My dealer was unaware of being able to do a custom order on a JL before the official release on Nov 29th. He kept saying we don’t have the pricing. Now that I see there are custom orders already I will reengage with them.

They certainly will but maybe not for a year or two. Yes, people have orders in, without pricing yet.

I hope that it will still be this model year. With 2018 being the 15th Anniversary of the Rubicon, I doubt that FCA would miss that opportunity to put together that edition. Additionally, the special editions have been very popular across the lineup. I see everything having something here.

I've been talking with my dealer in Wimington, NC about the JLU. He said this morning he was told there may be some news from FCA on the 15th. Have you heard any potential rumors? Also, he said he there's no box to check for tan premium top (at least on the Sport.) I can't find info in the forum, is tan premium top late avail? Is it avail on the Sport?

He probably barely knows what is going on and remembered the date from the jeep.com site. They are advertising a new video appearing on 11/15.

I don’t expect anything to break till the reveal. I’d be shocked if they reveal pricing before that. No soft tan soft top yet. I assume it’s late availability along with the other colors, engines, options, etc.

It depends on your dealer. When they released the special allocation at the end of October, it was based on sales. Some got 1 or 2 and I know some got considerably more. If they ordered off that allocation, most of those should be in D1 so would come in on the first shipment.

I've recently ordered my first "new" Jeep. I've had several Wranglers, but always pre-owned purchased from individuals. I have heard other "early-orderers" like me talking about getting the "Tread Lightly" guaranteed before it runs out.

Can someone explain what "Tread Lightly" is so I don't sound so brand new in the other threads, lol!

Tread Lightly is an organization that is on the FCA Affiliates list. Membership allows you to generate 2 "control numbers" a year to guarantee you 1% under invoice on a vehicle purchase. You must be a member for 30 days prior to using this discount. Or, if you work for a company that is on the list, there is no reason to spend money to join the group.

That's pretty awesome!!! How can I tell if my dealership is a participant without actually joining first? Can I get someone who is already a member who has access to check for me?

Totally get it, thanks! Just bought my membership... my Sahara delivery date is 12/14 which makes the 30 day wait period perfect!
Any advice on how to bring it up to my dealer? Just go in for the negotiation and then bring it up before or after? If there’s an etiquette or best way to do it I’d love to know. Also, does it make them uncomfortable to ask for the copy of the factory invoice. I know it’s all above board, but it sounds like the dealer might not love it. Thank you so much for the advice!!! #kittywhip
