I just contacted a dealer and he was able to build the Punk'n metallic Rubicon Unlimited with black cloth seats (wasn't forced into tan leather). Not sure what color the dash will be??? Or, did this dealer make a mistake? See attached....

So 10 days ago I was told that my new Jeep Wrangler JL is in transit to the dealership ( Long Island, NY) and that the Jeep was currently in New Jersey. I was told that it should only take a few days for it to be at the dealership. Anyone know who is responsible for delivery to the dealership. Is the factory or the dealership? is this a normal delay? can you tell that I'm excited and impatient?

Long Island is an island, surrounded by water, BIG water. :)

Not sure if it’s this way for Jeep or other car brands, but here’s how it works for Kia/ Hyundai:

When the vehicle rolls off the assembly line, “ownership” of the vehicle is passed onto the company contracted by the manufacturer to prep and ship the vehicle. In Kia/ Hyundai’s case it’s a company called Clovis (I believe that’s how it is spelled.) The company moves the vehicles to the factory storage yard, places protective coverings as dictated by manufacturer. Once enough vehicles for a particular regional destination and shipping method are amassed, they are transferred to trucks to be transported to the rail yard. If destination (dealer or regional staging yard) is close enough (determined by some unknown formula) the vehicles stay on the truck. For rail shipping, the vehicles are then staged until the determine number of vehicles for a destination are amassed. They are then loaded onto a rail car and transported to a regional rail yard, back onto a truck (once a full load is arranged) and onto the dealer. Once the vehicle is delivered to the dealership, “ownership” passes from the contracted company to the dealership.
(My stepdad works at the Hyundai plant in Montgomery, AL, which is how I know the process.)

Jeeps sent to NC (and maybe western VA & all of SC) are sent by train to Winston-Salem, NC then trucked to dealer.

Had a question. I’ll be trading in my wife’s 2014 Dodge Durango. The car will need new tires soon. You think it’s a good idea to get new tires before I trade it in?

So dealers will ding you for that on the value of your trade in and they'll take out more than the retail price of their tires plus installation. I would buy some used tires in better shape, usually around 50 each but just make sure they match because they'll into that too. Like I said, some dealers

I’ll be ordering a new JL and want a 3”lift, winch, slant back, & 35” tires.

Do I order these through the dealership and have them install or what?

I see AEV has packages available that would suffice, but what do I do with the standard factory bumpers, tires and top that come with the wrangler?

Thanks!

Probably a stupid question, but I assume you can turn off the features in the Jeep Active Safety Group with a button?

I don’t think I could buy a car or truck without tires, bumpers and a roof, but maybe the dealers can and give me a discount for them.

I’d ding you for the tires. Find a inexpensive pair, don’t say, well it has new tires! We know.

Yes, in the system settings you can basically turn them off. There is a button to turn off the back up sensors.
