I'm looking to install a Tuffy Deck Enclosure and do not want the tailgate to unlock with the central locking system as I'll more often than not, be running with the doors on this coming summer. The lock/unlock buttons on the doors control the rear tailgate making the Tuffy enclosure useless as anyone can unlock the rear gate using the door buttons. Anyone know of the particular wire(s) on the rear gate that control locking/unlocking? Perhaps I can remove those from the connector and manually lock and unlock when needed.

Without the Jeep running, I don't think the door locks will operate from the switch. I have tried it a couple of times and they wouldn't open.

I opened the driver window, closed the door and locked the jeep. Then reached in and was able to unlock the Jeep with the door switch. However, I just realized the key was in my pocket although I'm not sure that was the reason. Will need to try again with the key further away.

Joe - I think you are right as I tried again without the key near the Jeep and pushing the door button did not unlock the Jeep. I guess this resolves my dilemma.

You may have to let the Jeep completely power down, like leave it alone for 5 minutes or so. This morning, I was sitting in the Jeep waiting and the Jeep powered down completely...let it sit for 15-20 minutes or so...tried to unlock the door and it wouldn't do anything from the door switch.
