I know I can fit 315s on the stock rubicon wheel but I do worry about the tire crowning. Does anyone think it’s worth running a narrower tire to keep the stock wheels or am I better off running a slightly narrow rim for the tire (poor man’s beadlock)? I thought the 35x10s might be a good compromise but the smallest tire I’ve run was a 31x11.5 so I worry a 10” wide tire may be too narrow.

35x11.5 or 285/75r17.

I am also curious what others say. I wanna keep my rubi wheels as well. I am on the same boat as you.

10'' is too narrow.

255/85/17 which is really a 34 but Mickey Thompson says they’re 34.6”

Ran 35x12.5's for a couple years on my Rubi rims before getting new rims..... seemed to work good for me (little bit of crowning but not too bad, ran them around 32psi).....but, everyone is different and runs tires and rims for where they like to primarily Jeep.

Mounting a 35/12.50/17 , 315/70 on a 7.5 to 11.5” wheel is standard guideline per the Tire Rim Manufacturers Association per Don from Discount Tire. The crowning issue is when running high pressure, chalk testing will determine proper pressure. FYI—the BFG KO2 315/70/17 (113 S)with a 10.6” tread width has been discontinued for the new Bronco one (113 T) with a 10” tread width, are about 2 lbs heavier and cost $12 more. Edit— don’t rip your sidewall the discontinued ones are going to get hard to find.

Was looking at the KO2 in 285/75-17 (almost an exact inch taller than stock, but just 1/4" wider), but for some reason that jumps you from a C to an E load rating and about 10lbs heavier per tire. Only C load in that size I'm seeing is the Toyo Open Country, which is only 8lbs heavier.

Really not a lot of options for skinny 34s.

The 285/75/C AT3’s are 59 lbs— the 35/12.50/C AT3’s are also 59 lbs. GO FOR IT !! ?

The AT3s are pretty nice and a pretty lightweight 315, the Kelly MT and Goodyear territory are the only ones I can think of that are lighter but I’d be worried about the sidewalls. I personally would want something a little more aggressive with more void spacing

The 315/70 AT3’s are D rated, 67lbs. 35/12.50/C’s are 59 lbs. The only lighter 35/12.50-3.15/70’s I have found are the Goodyear Territory but they aren’t snow rated and are reportedly rock magnets. BTW— with only 7lbs more tire and ~ 3lbs of Teraflex aluminum relocation brackets I’m not concerned about expensive PITA tailgate reinforcement / relocation. ?

Nitto has a 35x11.5 in both their Trail Grappler and Ridge Grappler. I, too, have the same concerns as you and would like to keep the Rubicon rims when my Jeep gets delivered. These could be worth looking into...

These have an E load rating which from my understanding is better for towing and would be a pretty stout ride on road and off road...the Trail Grappler and Recon Grappler both come in the same size with a C load rating though...

Can someone answer if E load is too much for the Wrangler (if you're not towing)?

Sorry, yeah the 35s are lighter than the 315s. I had MTRs and they were good but in general Goodyear has wimpy sidewalls would avoid the territory and even the Kelly and I get 25% off Goodyear

I asked this same question on Reddit the other day, most people made it seem like E didn’t matter if you just adjust tire pressure.
