We were neighbors….I graduated Dublin High in 75. My parents bought a cracker box on Canterbury Lane in 64 at the huge cost of 15k. It’s now worth over one million dollars…..for 1100 sq ft…..in a ghetto.
Grew up Danville and graduated 76 from Monta Vista high school.
My wife purchased the house in 76 and we got marred in 89. 35 years this September 30.
Lived in many places. Dublin/San Ramon/Walnut Creek/Concord/ Pleasant Hill and finely in Pleasanton.
When I was a lot younger used to cruse the Main in Walnut Creek and drag race on Alcosta blvd. in my 66 chevy chevelle.

I have the Ravelco put also other.
1. Enabled the hood alarm with my Tazer and relocated the horns so they can't be disabled
2. Added a $50 Viper car alarm. Independent of factory alarm.
3. Added Drone Mobile (hard wired). Alerts me on my phone if it is disturbed and can track its location and has its own backup battery built in.
4. Enable Tazer pin code That must be entered move the jeep.
5. Never park where I cant see it or hear it. For example. Last April in Vegas at the Park MGM I could see my jeep in the parking garage and in Sand Hollow and Moab the jeep was parked right outside my motel window.
Layers of protection is hopefully the answer to keeping my jeep.
I’m literally frighten with this thread. Is it that bad? I live in NYC and none of friends/family that have Wranglers have gotten them stolen. I’m definitely looking into purchasing the Tazer and wanting to do something about the horns. I was thinking about adding an additional one but never thought about relocating the oem horns. Was it easy and where were they relocated to?

I used the “kill” switch product, but didn’t like having a visible switch anywhere. So I bought a relay. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078T8CMF6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

used the aux wires under the hood, so no wires need penetrate the firewall.

powered the relay with one of the aux switches.
combined with a hood lock, no one can start it. But easy for everyday use, and the wife too. Even valets have been able to use it.

even if someone plugs into the obd port, they still won’t be able to start it.

now granted, if someone were to try pressing the aux switches, they could start it, but it’s pretty good security and way cheaper than other options.

I keep the original jeep relay in the glove box, so very easy to return to total stock.
All of these deterrents work great and are needed put if it get towed you are screwed.
That why I opted for also the Drone Mobile. It also has a tow alert and tracking so if some one is f-ing with it I will get an alert on my phone no mater where I am.

Extended the horn wires and put them in loom cover to hide them and put them behind the bumper.

There’s tons of information in Gladiator forum. They seem to get stolen a lot.

NY is not a border state and as a former California cop, it is pretty bad. I assume it is pretty much nationwide, but most cops in California have become report takers, not crime breakers. They just want to stay out of jail and survive long enough to collect the fat, taxpayer funded CalPERS pension!

Hahaha, you were a cool guy! I did the Main Street thing as well, except in a Toyota Corolla. There was a bar close toTarget, but on the opposite side of the street, near N Main. That was close to the turn around point and subsequent watering hole. The gangsters from Oakland and Vallejo started showing up and the cops shut down the cruise. It then relocated to Main St Danville, the Sheriff’s Dept shut that down real quick! My neighbor owns a gigantic electrical company in the Bay Area and moved from WC to Idaho. He flys back once to California once per month. I haven’t been back since 2019, the stories he tells. The poor guy was with his wife inside Nordstrom in WC when a huge mob attacked. He got two teeth knocked out and his 58 year old wife was almost stripped naked. Fake news doesn’t report on that stuff.

I know what he means when he says it it bad and NO help from the police.
I have worked in Oakland for the past 35 years taking care of my parent 35 rentals on College/ Claremont/Grand ave. and Piedmont ave. Used to be the good parts of Oakland. Not any more.
Ask soon as my parent are gone my sister and I are selling all the property and moving on.
Are places are constantly getting vandalized and broken into and most of my tenets have had it with Oakland. They are now doing side shows on the corner of College and Claremont and the police don't show up.
I reported an insentient to the police and two days later they called and ask if I still need there help.
I am just done done done with Oakland.

I feel for the LEOs of California.

Between the DA’s clearing dockets by dismissing charges to politicians setting unrealistic expectations for votes that can’t be enforced. I‘ve met a few that still hope for the better but to your point, it’d be understandable for those that “quite quit”. Like any other state, Idaho has pockets of “fringe residents” but it doesn’t seem as saturated with incivility as some of the other communities.

Happy trailing!

Funny you mention OPD, because I was assigned to Ca DOJ/BNE, the powers in Sacramento put my entire task force in Oakland to supplement OPD’s crime suppression team. That was probably mid to late 90’s. After about 12-14 months, because we got in so many shootings, they pulled us out and replaced us with the CHP….traffic cops. Fast forward a few years, Sacramento put us in Vallejo. History repeated itself. The CHP replaced us and got their butts kicked.…again. I still have several friends at OPD and they are just counting the days. Things have gotten much worse. Most working stiffs are busy …..working, they do not realize what is happening in real time. Unfortunately I have seen the EV’s and solar panels slowly pop up in Idaho, so it is coming this way as well, there is no escaping it!

On a semi related topic, my 2021 Raptor has two interior cameras. They said it is to detect inattentive drivers. A buddy with the DEA told me, with a court order, they can conduct live surveillance…..sound and video, via the cameras. The owners manual indicates the cameras record to the EDR on a 30 second loop. My friend told me the cameras can be remotely operated. Naturally, I looked at the UConnect screen inside my new 2024 X and like my Raptor, it has a black plastic, for the lack of a better word, window, attached to the left side of the main screen. I am totally anti big brother and had my Raptor torn apart. Black Duct tape now blocks the camera on both the GPS screen and door. Wrangler doesn’t have it on the door. Does anyone know what is behind the black window next to the GPS? If the DEA can do it, so can a 12 year old with a computer.

I installed the 41.22 kit as directed.

instead of using the red handled switch, i used a relay. Relay contacts replaced the switch. Relay is powered by the aux switch. Program on the jeep dash for the switch to be momentary on, powered by the battery.

does that help?
Why do you need a relay? Why couldn't you just use the auxiliary switch in place of the toggle?

Thanks!!
