Anti-theft code question.....

I just sold my old Uconnect 5 on FB marketplace. I gave the person the code that a friend from Jeep gave me. I sent him my old radio numbers and he gave me 8497 . This is the same code that I got when I bought my 8.4 from Ebay. The person that bought mine says it does not work when she enters it. I said I would buy back but would rather figure it out. She says that it did not ask for a Vin number .. should it?

Each radio has its own security code.

I followed these instructions from reddit.
It worked for the 8.4 I bought from another user.

Get the serial number off the back of the radio.
Subtract the last 4 digits of the serial number from 10099

Example
Serial number T M9 234 7 00405
The last 4 digits are 0405
10099 - 0405 = 9694
Code = 9694

Posted elsewhere on this forum by U EEDIOT, have them try it. I would be interested to see if it works.
