Short story.... 9 days after buying my 2019 Rubicon, the radio crapped out in a reboot loop. The reboot loop cannot be stopped or turned off. The jeep was certified and under a 3 month / 3000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. The dealer has a radio on order. Coincidentally shortly after that I started getting messages from the dealer installed lojack system stating the battery had low voltage. This seems to occur when I have not driven the jeep for a day or two. 4 days later, it wouldn't start, jumped it and drove it up to the dealer, they replaced the battery.

Today I started getting the same messages "low battery voltage". Tonight it wouldn't start, jumped it and drove around. Upon getting home I parked the jeep, placed my keys in the house, and on a whim went out to look at the Jeep. Sure enough with the Jeep off and my keys no where near the jeep, uconnect was still rebooting. This explains the low battery. The oddity is there is no way to stop this except pulling fuse 90 (I believe it is labeled radio).

So, does anyone see any problems with driving around with the radio fuse pulled?

Thanks

No Problem to have the radio off. There will be a code set, but it isn't important enough to request the check engine light.

Try to pull the cable from the security gateway under the dash. On my side if they are disconnected the radio does not power on.

I would start by replacing the batteries (assuming it has both). Then I would move on to investigating the "dealer installed lojack system". The install of it should not cause the battery to die in that short of time, assuming it was installed correctly.

The radio could be related to the low voltage of the battery but I would go ahead with the replacement considering the warranty coverage.

That process is under way. My main concern is there any issue driving around with the radio fuse (97) pulled?

You would know right away if there is a problem. Radio fuse should not bother anything. I do wonder if the LoJack is wired to that circuit, dealer installed accessories often create new issues.

That's what I thought. But it worked flawlessly for 9 days. Then the radio went heywire and went into a never-ending reboot loop. The dealer diagnosed it and ordered a new radio, which is on the way.

Shortly after that, the lojack system started sending messages about low battery voltages. What no one, including me, realized was that reboot loop continues EVEN WITH THE VEHICLE OFF! It was last night after I jumped it, drove it a while, came home and parked it. Later I walked out to the Jeep and I could see the screen rebooting. Bewilderd I went inside, checked an hour later, still rebooting, check this morning - same. It seems that until the dealer gets the new radio, I have 2 choices: 1) leave it on a trickle charger constantly or 2) pull fuse 97.

thanks

Did not cause issue when I did it, granted I plug it back when i noticed the radio was no longer powering up

Did you get this issue resolved?

My 8.4 unit is boot looping and will not stop unless it just goes black for a while but shortly it will start again.

This has killed multiple sets of batteries.

Did replacing the unit fix this issue?

I have since replaced the 2019. That said, replacing the unit fixed the issue. Mine was replaced with a 100$ deductible. If I had to buy it, Infotainment.com sells them for < 2000$, the dealer, north of 3000$. Till you resolve this you may want to pull fuse 97 or leave the jeep hooked up to a tricle charger and carry a jump pack.
