Finally got rid of this super annoying p0456 small leak/gas cap nuisance! After replacing the gas cap, I've been to my local dealer 3 times! First, they "updated" the software. Then they replaced the ESIM. Twice. And the damn light kept coming back.
Then I took it to the dealer I bought the jeep from. A little further, but not much. They smoked it and found no leak. Then they began checking the wiring and traced it to a faulty connector in the wiring harness going to/from the ESIM. They replaced it and so far so good!
We just came from 1500mi trip to the Great Smokies and, fingers crossed, no CEL!
Apparently the first dealer didn't want to bother and just kept replacing the perfectly good ESIM and clearing codes.
Good it was covered under warranty and didn't cost me anything.
