So I had become completely frustrated with our Thule hitch mounted ski rack. It was always in the way of getting ready, getting out of our gear or just hanging out while we tailgated. Plus it had to be lowered every time someone wanted to get into the Jeep and it bounced and jiggled around like crazy. No Bueno. I looked everywhere for options and came across Rhino Rack's angled brackets and carriers. They hold the skis above the doors horizontally, at an angle that makes them easy to load & unload. Problem was their bracket only works with their Pioneer platform; I have a Yakima Wegawarrior.
Enter Fourtreks. I shipped a bracket off to Luke at Fourtreks (http://www.fourtreks.com/) and he was able to match up the bracket to one of his 1" diameter mounting brackets. Luke was a huge help and just a really good guy to work with. I highly recommend checking out his website as his stuff is super high quality. Anyway when I got Luke's mounting hardware I set everything up and it works prefect. The skis are out of the way and very secure; no more jiggling around every time we hit a bump. Also the racks are extremely easy to take on and off and they are very light and easy to store unlike the old Thule.
A strong recommendation to anyone looking for a similar resolution.
