Ski Rack

Hey guys,

Anyone know of what options for transporting skis are available for the JL Wrangler?

I know Mopar makes roof rack clamps for skis, could those be mounted to the roof rack system they are currently selling?

Any other thoughts? I think roof would be better than a hitch rack.

I’m going to use the roof rack I have on my JK. Thule gutter mounts/aerobars.

I think i figured it out.

Now my only question is can I buy the roof rack kit without the basket thing for any cheaper?

You don't have to buy Mopar-branded racks. Any aftermarket gutter-mounted system will work on the JL.

So it's safe to assume that if a rack works great on a JK it will do just as well on a JL? I'm reading product reviews that mention JKs; I want to make sure those comments translate to JL.

If you have a hitch or gutter mounted system on the JK it’ll be compatible with the JL

If the reviews are referring to gutter-mounted rack systems, then yes. These systems all work the same manner.

If the reviews are referring to rail-type systems, they may work too. But I think that I read somewhere that the JL hardtop is lighter so you probably won't know for sure until some rack outfitter tests it.

Did this work ok? I have the same setup and am planning on taking 4 boards about 350mi each way this weekend on highway driving.
