I ordered this on Amazon and it listed being as sold from the official Mopar store. When I received it, it looked like a “junkyard part “ that was obviously used. It was fulfilled from “cheaper than dirt mopar parts’.

Is this common or did I just get unlucky?

Amazon is terrible and have gotten a lot worse the last few years sense COVID. I ordered some mopar door seals and only got three of the four. Box looked like it was ran over on the interstate. Now I just pay a little extra and use Walmart online or the Mopar parts store direct. Screw Amazon. Paying the extra for Prime is a waste as well, shipping times are ridiculous from Amazon. Piss on em’…

I've pivoted to other vendors when and where appropriate. E.g., although Amazon usually has the best pricing for Holosun RMR sights, the reviews occasionally mention -- just enough to be concerning -- folks receiving obviously used or damaged products. One fellow even thought he received a clone (which I thought funny, given what Holosun itself actually is...)

The foregoing convinced me to shift to Optics Planet. While they're certainly not giving anything away, their good rep in the community is earned...more so than Amazon, for sure.

It seems like you got bitten by the same Bad Luck bug.

Don't trust that there's an "official store" for anything on Amazon, just verify the seller for authenticity (for everything).

If something is both "shipped and sold" by Amazon, it's *probably* authentic (sometimes grey market) and *usually* warrantied by the manufacturer. If sold by the manufacturer themselves on Amazon.com it's usually both. If sold by any other 3rd-party seller, then good luck.

For MOPAR parts, at the very least, try to buy from an actual CDJR dealer.

None... but it pays well.
I donno... I've gotten a half crushed/ torn open box and it still had the item I ordered... in great shape.

I've been lucky in that I thoroughly check items being sold online and compare. Some have better deals on ebay, so I bounce around.

I recently obtained behind the bumper left and right trim pieces for my future winch install. Won't be factory but will have most all the parts to make it look right. New, and from a Mopar parts source on ebay. Fair price for them and free shipping.

One thing... Amazon is pretty good with prompt refunds. Ebay has its terrible moments. Have one right now on hold until the 16th. I placed a dispute a month ago. Geezo!

There are new Mopar parts, and then there are new genuine Mopar Parts sold only by an authorized Mopar Parts Dealer.

You returned it, right? Amazon makes it stupidly easy to return stuff.

I'm a manager at a family owned gun store. Many companies, including Holosun, have a MAP or minimum advertised price, on their merchandise. After several MAP violations the company won't let them sell their product anymore. Thats why sometimes you'll see "price too low to advertise, see price in cart." Normally sites like Amazon, Optics Planet, Brownells and the like will advertise and sell optics, lights and sights at MAP. We know that we won't sell these items if we price them above MAP so we price them at MAP. We probably sell a dozen Holosuns a week. In addition the customer can see and handle the item before purchase and has a person to come back to if they have a problem. We will also install them free. I spoke with a Holosun rep 2 weeks ago and he said they are seeing more counterfeit optics showing up.

We have been flagged for MAP violations on our website several times, often for as much as a penny below MAP. Sometimes MAP will increase and we still have the old MAP listed and we get called out on it. Smith and Wesson blocked us from purchasing their products due to a couple of violations of just a few dollars. It was easy to fix, but they are watching.

Hopefully you have a local shop where you can get MAP pricing and know you're getting the brand you're paying for instead of a knock off.

I like Amazon because it's so easy to return things that don't work out and shipping is always way faster than any other source. That said, it's not for everything.

There is a local shop that I've patronized for years now. Having done my pre-purchase due diligence before walking in, though, it's plain that they tend to sell sights and similar for a fair bit more than "MAP". Their store, their choice, and possibly they're just inoculating themselves against vendor violations as you've experienced.

Sometimes they'll get my business, usually during ammo sales. In other instances, I'll just buy from an online vendor like Optics Planet, which recurringly has better pricing (and that's saying something) even with shipping factored in. Thankfully, I've not yet had any issues with clone or damaged goods no matter the seller.

--------------------

I do try to give the locals my business, and I know the light bill has to be paid, but my loyalty is to my wallet first. I don't mind the occasional special order and I know that shelf space is finite, but if the shop in question doesn't even keep common consumables like air filters and spark plugs in stock, or more than just two weights of engine oil, I won't waste their time. Or mine. ;)

I have purchased many parts from allmoparparts.com. They are genuine new Mopar parts. I believe it’s an east coast dealership, they specialize in giving reduced prices and shipping anywhere. Very helpful and very reliable. They are much less expensive than local dealership.
