I went to the website of an advertiser on this forum. After I drilled down to the products I'm interested in, a pop-up covers half the screen. The pop-up wants my name and email to subscribe to a newsletter. I can't find a way to collapse the pop-up to view the advertiser products.

Am I being too sensitive that I have to sign up for a newsletter to view their products?

While I still do have the occasional pop-up appear on my screen, such as what you've experienced, the frequency of that annoyance has decreased after installing two browser extensions: Adblock Plus, and Ghostery. The latter is particularly good at blocking trackers, too.

More to the point, one or both of those extensions now guarantee that I can collapse (i.e., "X out of") every such pop-up that might appear.

Just a suggestion.

---------------

If I couldn't proceed on a webpage without first being compelled to enter personal data, whether real or fictitious, I'd simply choose to not give the vendor in question my business.

When i do or hired to do something i put my time and effort into it and i think of how can i make this experience smooth and easy going for another person. They came to me for a service, they did not come to me to deal with another neighbor prick, DMV asshat, local tax collector doucehnozzle, local entitled twat cop, another hysterical Karen wife, or a pile of my dysfunctional garbage.
I dont ask for any of that either, happy them - happy me.

Any time i get a sense of someone else nonsense, 99.9% of times it morphs into trying to screw me over. That is where i end it.
Half asses dysfunctional websites, with magical deals for a piece of my privacy, that is a pile of garbage and nonsense in my books, im good.

Thank you for allowing me to vent, and for the suggestions.
Just be aware that sites like this are usually forced to adhere to specific rules about discussing related issues. Don't be shocked if the thread gets nuked.

If you’re using an Apple product I recommend trying the free app Ublock Origin Lite to bypass unwanted pop ups. Not for this forum of course. No of course not. I don’t know if it will work in the circumstance you‘re describing.
