My floor mats are carpeted mats and are easier to clean with a vacuum rather than washing rubber mats with soap and water. Mine needs vacuuming, but one of the Jeep Clubs I am a member of will be hitting the Big Horn Mountain Wilderness Trail next Tuesay so, what's the point. I'll vacuum and wash the Jeep the next day.

How about cleaning underneath and under the hood after a trail run? I always clean after a run by going by the coin car wash for under the hood and underneath. The dust you see in the picture under the hood is a month worth of grocery getting runs since my last cleaning after a trail run.

I"ve always been scared to clean under the hood. I'll wipe it down, but I see people pressure wash, or even just use a hose to clean the engine and I just can't do that. I've seen too many vehicles have a SES light come on after being washed. I just can't imagine it's good for all those electronics to have that much water put on them. I understand they do get some moisture when driving in the rain, but not the amount a hose or pressure washer would do. I try to keep the engine bay as clean as possible, but can only do so much with a dust rag.

I use the carwash sprayer to clean under the hood just don't pull the handle for high pressure. Just soap and and water does the trick.

Another method is spray Simple Green Industrial Strength, which is Purple in color, all over the engine compartment and wash off with the garden hose and nozzle on the shower mode and this will keep the extreme pressure of the components.

The vacuum cleaner is certainly a great choice for cleaning up fine debris. However, I have a question. After using it in a simple sandy off-road environment, it performs well. But how do you manage your carpet when dealing with both river and sand?

I understand how you feel. If it is a rainstorm day, I even worry that the deep water will soak the engine of my car and cause a fire.

I try to watch were I step and if I can help it, I try not to step into any mud. My vacuum is a Craftsman Shop Vacuum, and it sucks real well.
