This is why I waited to get another Jeep. I need a truck, but want a Jeep. So I paid the truck off and then bought the Wrangler.

Well, the time has come for me to say goodbye. I traded my Jeep over the weekend, and still have some mild, lingering regret. I have to say this forum has been great during the time I had my Jeep. I saved so much money on service and installation related costs from things I learned here. And there were so many members here always willing to offer advice and direction. I'll miss you guys.

And now, a retrospective...

Here she is the day I got her, 18 miles on the clock:

And here she is on our last day, 47k miles later:

And here’s the newest family member:

You’ll be back. Until we meet again

I don't see a situation where you're taking a giant full size with low approach, departure, and breakover angles that you'll ever need front and rear lockers? We rarely turn on both in a JLUR on 39s running 8+ rated trails. These "trail" full sized trucks are really no more capable than any 4x4 full sized truck as clearance and manueverability are still the limiting factor in my opinion. If you need a full size for the capacity and comfort there's nothing wrong with it, but I'd rather wheel a base model sport with no lockers than a full sized truck with them and I'd bet the base sport is still the much better off road rig.

You know that "lingering regret" you mentioned...it never goes away till you buy a new Jeep. ask me how I know. LoL
I can also confirm this feeling. I paid $44k for my 2017 JKUR. I paid $63K for my 2024 JLUR. It did not get cheaper.

Jeeps place second in the publics perception of A holes driving, with huge pickups placing first.
So you're moving up. ??

New Jersey plated vehicles rank #1, no matter what they are attached to! ?

You know that Homer Simpson screech you hear as he runs/escapes into the garage at the beginning of every Simpsons episode? Well, I took my kids out east to visit Princeton about 15 years ago. We spent a total of about five hours driving in New Jersey before traveling through New York and into New England. During that five hours we saw a crash, several near crashes, and got flipped off three times (once for actually stopping at a stop sign, once for merging at only 10 mph over the speed limit, and once for allowing an elderly woman into a line in front of us…) For the rest of our trip through New England my kids let out that Homer screech every time they saw a New Jersey license plate. They’re in their 30s now, and they have traveled the world, thanks to Uncle Sam: Only Thailand ranks higher for terrible driving (but it’s close — and at least the people there are friendly.) ?

As for pickup trucks, I have no idea what non-commercial uses they might see in Newark, Hoboken, and Jersey City, but in rural areas they meet common needs that aren’t well served by other vehicles.

Oregon used to be that way in my youth, 120 years ago, but now you can’t swing a lariat without hitting somebody from California. Or New Jersey. We even have traffic jambs. And lots of crime. They came here to save us from peace, tranquility, good manners, and abundant wildlife.

I think his odds of survival were better. :CWL:

I’m grateful to have lived when the state was open and free. It was an amazing place.

Lots of my hunting and fishing buddies are grumpy. I’m not happy about the loss of our state, and I despair for my grandkids who will never know traffic-free wilderness and great hunting and fishing — but I’m so grateful to have had so many wonderful years of enjoying it all with friends and family. I have lots to say grace over. Heck, I could have been born in Bangladesh. Or Newark. :giggle:;)

Screw what people say brother. Good luck on your new adventure. I do understand. And when it comes my time? I will not care what people say. I thank you for at least saying it.

You, sir…..have some testicles the size of grapefruits.

Why would I say something like this?

Well……most folks that have come and gone on this forum, and subsequently created a thread just as you did, are often lambasted and roasted until they’re well done…..or crispier.

The replies to your thread have basically been so calm, supportive, and respectful in nature; I’m quite impressed.

It may even give me the courage to start my own thread; or I may just toss mine in along with your thread.

As reality was setting in that the wonderful 5.7L, 6.2L, and 6.4L engines were going by the wayside, along with some of the finest packaging to ever house said engines, I caved…..and now have this new 2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 392 A8.

That’s a beauty and I feel ya about the times changing. Why i finally sold my 2008 avalanche with 65k trouble free miles I special ordered in October of 2007. Bought an at4 with 6.2. Compared to modern numbers 420/460 seems low but with the new 10 speed the truck screams.
