Dear @Sting_NC_USA congrats, you are the guy LOL!!!

that is my first post where, but i want explain i dont have JL Wranger, my car is Jeep Compass 2022 with Premium Audio. Ok its different car but that thread is singular, with high skill people and because that i make the registration at forum, to reply that thread.

so...

Here in Brazil the "premium" audio its by "Beats" with 10 channel amplified, 520wrms, its a simple MOPAR amplifier with bull$hit Beats tag.

I really don't like the beats Audio and want be upgrade.

The amplifier stay at behind, left side under protect cover.

Have 2 conectors, 1 - 22 PIN and other 16 - PIN and i want make a simple "bypass" over the stock amplifier.

First problem;

the biggest problem is the amplifier is controled by CAN BUS and i think he have only 2 channel over "input", so controls like fade or Balance is controled by Headunit CAN and the amplifier make balance, fade and crossover filter.

On my fisrt try i can see the amplifier keep searching Resistence on speakers OUT (amplified), and if the amplifier can't see one single speaker the results is "Mute ALL", the amplifier stop the Work for all Speakers, no sound.

Do you think if i use the "resistor trick" 47ohrms @5W over ever output (10 outputs) its gonna be ok?

I gonna use Audison Prima 8.9 Amplifier With Processor and after that change all speakers.
The Audison can control with differents Inputs signals like "Tweeter, Mid range and Subwoofer" not only "FR, FL, RR, RL" inputs.

Regretfully there's not an easy, straight-forward answer available here because of all the vehicle, and country specific issues researched for the Wrangler.

I do believe the answer lies with adapters made by PAC. https://catalog.pac-audio.com/catalog/amppro-amplifier-interfaces/#

I have to recommend giving PAC a call. There could be numerous changes applied to a 2022 Compass that has something other than a stock or Alpine head unit, though it should be possible to do what you are wanting to do.

Not the answer you were hoping for, I know, but PAC should be able to assist.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply!!! @Sting_NC_USA

It's fine!! we are here to learn more!!! :brokenhearted:

At this first time i use PAC APH-CH01 harness to diagnose and make the diagram of speakers "input and output".

The Amp pro ( AP4-CH21 ) i have sure this solve, but is 300$ bucks and more 70$ for shipping (Brazil)...

So at my own risk i want try 47 Ohms resistors. ( U$7,00 for 10 pieces), if dont work i can try 60 Ohms like NVX-VSLR60 or AudioControl AC-LGD 60.

I just want trick the factory amplifier, not the headunit.

If it works, I'll come back here to show you the photos and how I did it.

Best regards

Felipe.

PS: check this out; AudioControl AC-LGD series

I would like to install a DV8 sound bar and add two "pod" speakers to it. When I have the SOT open the stock alpine is just lacking. Is the PAC, an additional amp, and two pod speakers the way to go? Prefer to leave all the existing setup in place and just supplement with the additional setup or am I making a mistake?

IMO the easiest way to go (which still isn't easy) is the MB Quart Stage 6. They just released the drop in sub for the JLU and I am very happy with it. Even running my stock sub I rarely ran out of volume knob with the top down last summer.

For what you're describing, it does seem like the PAC and the gear you describe would be a good option for you. Let us know what you end up doing, and good luck with the build!

Thanks, I wasn't pulling the trigger until I saw you respond that it would work. I just want a bit more sound for the SOT being open.

Scan the manual really well for the PAC. It's a bit confusing, especially the calibration process and dip switch settings, but focus on the extra wire dongle. That is where you would feed the speaker signal back to your stock speakers.

For anyone that has replaced the lower knee panel speakers.
Is it a noticeable improvement over factory? I don’t mind putting in the work if it makes a big difference. I’m already replacing the top dash with focal and upgrading the sound bar with with 3 way focal components. I will be adding an amp and pac. If I only replace the upper speakers I will power them off the factory amp. If I end up doing the lower speakers as well then I will need to add an additional amp. Also looks like to me the lower speakers would be restricted by the factory grill if I go larger. Thoughts?

Not as bad a task as it looks but still a lot of work.

I have a 2023 Jeep Wrangler with the 8.4" display and the Alpine system. I was looking at the AmpPRO ap4-ch41. How do I find the factory head unit's max clipping volume (I heard it's around 32/33) ? I have a Steve Meade DD-1 if that helps. Also, does the factory head unit clip if you're using optical?

I installed a Pac in my 22 that came with the Quart Stage 6. I referred to this post regarding test tones:

https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/b...ones-and-tuning-tutorial-all-new-links-again/

I ended up setting up the Quart amps with a -10db test tone the 8.4 does not clip even at 38 (max). It is a good read.

Yes, it makes a difference.... but the difference is relative. My Alpine system was adequate with the top on and doors on but once ya lost the freedom panels or dropped the top I wasn't satisfied until I switched to aftermarket speakers and amps.

I went with Focal component speakers all around but if you wanna try running any focal speakers w/ the factory amp it's just a waste of money on the speakers. You will actually get less volume out of the focals. They need solid, clean power to push them to efficency and factory amp won't cut it. Nor will a 3000 watt pyramid amp that weighs 6 oz. Factory speakers are designed to be more efficient with factory amp but have a quick cliff of sound degradation.

So if you want to take the time and effort to replace factory speakers with quality
seperates like Focal or Morel plan in getting the Pac Amppro and some quality amp as well or you will be disappointed..... and dont forget the metra pods and SSV soundbar adapters.
