Just picked up a 2018 JLUR with about 35k miles last week. Aside from discovering the infamous corrosion issue after the fact (dealer conveniently showed me the Jeep soaking wet), I’m honestly liking the vehicle so far aside from the bubbles in the paint .

Only thing I’m not impressed with is the sound system.

It has the factory Alpine setup, and while it’s decent, it just doesn’t have enough low end for me. I own an Alpine Type R 12” sub and Alpine mono amp from a previous vehicle that I’d like to reuse.

What I’m trying to figure out is:
Can I add the sub and mono amp while still keeping the factory Alpine system fully intact and functioning?

Most of the threads I’ve found are from people removing/replacing the entire Alpine setup, but I’m really just looking to supplement it with my existing sub setup.

I also just ordered a Stinger Horizon 10 to replace the uconnect unit, so that’ll be going in soon as well once I sort out the sub install.

If anyone has done something similar or has recommendations on the cleanest way to integrate it, I’d appreciate the help.

Factory Alpine system here with amp and sub. I have the ap4 ch42 interface. It sounds so much better than the factory sub. Im using an alpine rs-w10d4 sub that mounts in the factory location. Theres a ton of sound deadener on the back of the panel and also on the body behind it. Its been one of my favorite mods so far. Im waiting on alpine to send me the harness to amp the speakers too and theyre also sending me some tweeters so that should really wake things up even more.

Was that sub a direct fit in the factory location, or did you need an adapter ring?

I am honestly not 100% sure as the guys at Alpine took care of me on that part. I know that it has a different grill than factory and that part is kte-rs10g. I am going to be pulling the speaker trim though to touch up the paint ive got on it and can confirm if its got an adapter ring or anything.
