Looking to change my front white grill to a black one. I see two different parts available. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two parts are? Also I would prefer the black trim around the grill so I would need the black trim included.

Thanks

One is the grill in black primer, one is completely finished in satin black with mesh inserts.

in the pics for 68316767AC it looks like the molding comes with it. Does anyone know?

Also, anyone have any idea how a grill in black primer would look compared to one that's finished in satin black? I just want a black grill for my bright white JL. Wondering how a black unpainted primed grill will look..

Thanks!

I have an all white Sahara and I just bought the primed black grille. You can still use the mesh backing that comes with the JL. It snaps in to place on the back of the primed grille. You can’t use the inserts that come with the Sahara/Rubicon grilles, however. And you wouldn’t need molding for the primed version. If you have a sport and want the satin grille, then you would also need to buy molding.

I painted my primed grille with matte black automotive spray paint. Could have kept it just the primed black, but I didn’t like the shine that it had and preferred a matte look.

Wow that's exactly the look I am going for (including the decal). Yeah I'm leaning towards buying just the primed black grille and using the existing mesh that is in my white grill.

Also buy molding do you mean the trim around the grille? In your pic it looks like the trim is black around the grille.

Right now the trim on my car is white, when I order part 68316767AC, does anyone know if it comes with the black trim/molding?

Also how hard was it to put that decal on yourself?

Thanks

The primed grille is all one piece (molding built in) just like a Sport Grille. That’s why if you have a Sport and want to purchase the Satin Grille, you also need to buy molding, as the stock sport grille does not come with molding. If you were to buy a Satin Grille for a Sahara or a Rubicon, you would just need to detach and use your white molding that comes with the stock grille.

The decal was very easy to put on. Always follow the instructions and wet-mount/ float it on, then use the provided tool to squeeze out the water once it’s in the place you want it. I got mine from Quadratec and it came with everything.

With 68316767AC the moldings are molded into to grill(one piece/ cannot be separated). If you use that grill and want the "moldings" body color you have to mask them off and paint( Cwelroy left black). Also, if you have a Sport, you have this grill.
Ah! that helps a lot thanks. So I want to keep that molding black along with the grill. If its one piece, all I have to do is order that part and swap? Sounds much easier than I thought.

So if I'm understanding correctly, the Rubi/Sahara grill (82215114) "Molding" comes in three different pieces but with the Sports Grille (68316767AC) the molding is actually part of the grill so I won't have to worry about that separate piece?

Also, what exactly is the difference between the two grilles? I see pictures of both of them and can't notice a difference..

corrext on the first two accounts. Just order and swap. If you wanted the satin you would have to order the grille AND order the molding and paint the molding to match.

Difference is the additional parts (silver inserts for the Sahara, black inserts for the rubicon). And it has more pieces with the molding. That’s about it.

Makes a lot of sense... Yeah I'm going to use your car pictures as a guideline. That's the exact look I'm going for except my fenders are black and not white.

Okay I might as well just go with the Sport primed grill. Black looks good and it seems like its a quite cheaper than the Sahara/Rubi grill

Yeah my initial plan was to wait until some people part with their black grills and I can scoop one up but I'm seeing some parts on eBay for 150-160. Can't pass that up!

Did you ever purchase this grill 68316767AC? I am also looking to get one. There are a bunch of Mopar sites selling them for $150ish.

Did the grill come primed? What color is it?

Thanks
