I know I seem to be picking at everything looking for reason not to get a 4xe.

But back seat - looking at the back seat of the 4xe vs. regular it looked like less leg room. But sitting in it I notice being a bit higher but not less leg room. Is it just an illusion from being higher that seems less or is there less leg room (or maybe is seat more depth).

I noticed on the 4xe the back seats seem pretty straight up and down. Is there a difference in seat pitch from those that have had both.

And finally - anyone annoyed really by the hump in the rear and then the higher level where the seats don't fold flat.

Just curious especially from those that have had both is there really any real world differences between the 2 that matter at all (even if minor annoyances).

Thanks,
Chris

The seat pitch/angle is the exact same in the 4xe as non-4xe JLs. It “looks” almost straight but it’s definitely not.

I’m sure I’m in the minority here but I really like having the hump when I fold down the seats. In my previous vehicle, stuff would always slide all the way up as I drove, but the hump creates a nice barrier to keep objects in the actual cargo area.

Good point on it keeping stuff in the far back from sliding all the way up - I had not thought of that.

I believe this was also debunked, there may be an inch or so further the base of the backseat on the 4xe protrudes towards the back of the front seats, but the real measurement is from the backrest of the back seat to the front seat which is the same. So the illusion is not an Illusion in that it does look like less space, but it’s space your legs don’t take up therefor you actually have the same amount of leg room

We have had both and from a seating perspective, we prefer the 4XE. Sitting taller makes the rear seat more comfortable for us. I'm 6'+ and she's 5'7"+. I don't care for the hump for cargo though.

Chart below is from Jeep's website. The rear legroom looks different, but doesn't feel different. I haven't run into a situation where the seat hump aggravates me, but I'm sure I will. It will be rare enough that I don't worry about it.

The higher area in the back when the seat is folded down puts my dog at the perfect height to stick his head out the half-open rear window while standing on it.

I did see some comparisons - and yes its not an optical illusion like I thought but as stated above the seat cushion tself is a little deeper (probably more of a plus). My dog would appreciate the extra 1" up to.

Honestly the only thing I could think the hump would be a negative on is if someone slept in the rear of the Wrangler. Got me thinking it would be cool if someone came up with a short storage drawer deck that evened out the back space with storage below.

Deepsleep is working on a model for a sleeping mat for the 4xe now, so......we shall see. That's one thing that's holding me from looking at a 4xe more seriously.

I just got my non-4xe Rubicon a couple days ago. The sliding of items happens all the time. This is not new to me. Happens in my other vehicles that fold flat too. Still not a fan of the sliding despite loving fold flat haha.

Have to say this is what it looks like! I mean seriously, if the back seats have xx inches less volume why is that a factor in choosing the 4xe versus regular gas Wrangler? Very bizarre. You buy the 4xe because you want to save money on gas and/or get more power and/or want a quiet ride. You don't not buy a 4xe because of 10 cubic inches of less rear volume or whatever.

I thought my question was on legroom and the hump issues with no lay flat.

Your post clearly implies that the potential difference is some sort of 'make or break' decision in getting the 4xe. I'm saying don't let that be the critical decisive thing. If it is then that's bizarre. And as you said maybe you are looking for a reason - any reason - to not buy one.
