I will add that when I’m auto mode it seems like the air flows from the footwells. If you take it off auto, you can select where you want the air to flow from.
I notice a significant difference when I go to manual and and select air flow from the top forward vents. This is the only way passengers feel anything from the rear vents. I too miss the simplicity of a YJ or TJ heater!
Yeah, I noticed this as well. To get hot heat directly on you the quickest, put it on manual mode. It will come out the top vents cooking.

Auto setting mostly comes out of the footwell and doesn't seem to heat up as strong imho. However, after a certain point in auto, it starts to blow out of the top vents and the air is usually cooler. I think it is part of how it regulates the overall cabin temp. It is annoying because the cool air will hit my hand on steering wheel making me think the heat isn't high enough.

Hi Bret
I am having a similar situation in mine - not real hot heat.
Can you please elaborate on the picture you posted?
I cannot seem to find the same hoses/angle location as you have shown.
Where in the engine compartment is this photo - front/back - driver/pass side?
Thanks!!!
Eric

Hello Eric,
I crawled onto the engine from the passenger side. The hoses are located between the firewall and the back of the engine. The picture shows 2 kinks. The closer (larger dia.) hose is kinked vertically. The smaller diameter hose in the lower left is kinked horizontally.
Hope this helps.
Best, Bret.
