Because all the aftermarket spare tire lifters/spacers for larger tires stick out 2" plus I made one that will space out my tire the same as my stock tire, i also was able to add a CB antenna mounting point.

Are you saying the thickness is specific to your rim/tire so it presses on the rubber bumpers? Maybe it would be possible to make adjustable bumpers to replace the factory ones?

yes you could make adjustable bumpers but I wanted to pull the spare in as close as the combo would let me

I don't think it's plastic. I'm pretty sure it's magnesium.

I think you are correct, looks like is has a plastic over a metal base as I could see aluminum when I added a small notch for the camera/light

dont think so at this point as I am looking into rear bumper/tire carrier due to the weight and the bumper thats bends into the body in the corners

I ask because I saw this photo on this site of a cracked tire carrier and I thought it looked like plastic,you would think if they made a die casted part it would be strong enough to hold up.

Jk carrier ,wall thickness looks thin.Do these carriers crack just with the weight of the tire or just when you bang into something ?
