Does anyone have a detailed write up or link to an instructional video on doing the oil cooler for a JL/JT? My 2020 is leaking I do believe, and have found multiple videos/instruction on doing a JK, it seems the JL is a lot harder to find information for, are they more or less the same process? I sure don’t want to miss a sensor or some small thing that will cost me more down the road, thanks.

I’ll give it a look. Thank you. I’m some what mechanically inclined but like to be sure I’ve got everything I need before hand

He even puts diagrams up of the torque sequence and settings of both the upper and lower intake manifolds as well as the oil cooler

It seems he has a video doing an oil cooler for 3.6 from 10 years ago. Again, are the JKs styles and the JLs close enough to use the same instruction?

I’m sure there are subtle differences on upper intake removal but nothing too serious. I haven’t done the oil cooler on the jl yet myself only the jk. I would imagine the torque specs and sequence is correct though.

Take your time. The worst thing I encountered was all of the wire looms attached to the manifolds. Fold your hood all the ways back to the window as you will need the light and the room to work. I went ahead and replaced the gaskets ( they come with the oil cooler ) with the Fel-Pro brand. They are the best. Be careful taking the manifolds off as your fuel rail is right there. Mine came loose but don't panic, it's a very simple operation to put it back. I used the Dorman aluminum cooler. Make sure you cover the intakes with something, don't want coolant or parts to fall in. Hope this helps a little. First time for me doing this and I'm an old guy.

None... but it pays well.
One youtube video explains blue gaskets are tossers, while green are reusable.

I assume you’re talking about the intake manifold gaskets and not the oil housing gaskets right?

Yep... the late 2022 on up cooler has two different sized o-ring gaskets. One Black and one red. You'll need to check their size for proper fitment when installing.

The JL and JK have identical oil coolers (removal). The only thing different in removal is the EGR valve. Just take the 2 bolts off at the EGR valve tube and loosen the two by the firewall, it'll swing out the way enough to get the manifold off without issue. Other than that the manifold is removed in roughly a similar fashion, nothing special.

The manifold gaskets are also reusable on the JL, but use your discretion if they're worn or not.
