I have a 2021 JLU with a 3.0 diesel that keeps killing batteires. I see a lot of info here about the 3.6l gas dual bettery setup. Is the 3.0 diesel the same?

Need to find a solution to my problem, here is a brief description.

When the Jeep was about a year old the first set of batteries died. The dealer said the batteries were bad due to the Jeep sitting on the lot for a long time before we purchased it. Then about a year later it happened again. The delaer said it was because of the start stop device I added to the jeep. We removed the start stop and they put in new batteries. Now 8 months later the batteries are dead again. The delaer says we don't drive it enough, its a diesel and they are built to be driven more than gas cars. It has a lot of electronics that are on all the time so we should disconnect the battery if its going to sit for more than a couple weeks. It is true that the Jeep is not driven often and most of the time its driven short distances.

I am considering a battery maintainer. If the batteries are in parallel like the 3.6l I can get buy with just a one bank maninatiner on the main battery. I want to permanantly mount this under the hood. I am considering a NOCO GENPRO 10x1. NOCO website says its for marine applications, will it work under the hood of the Jeep? I know there are many threads on this forum about these devices, but I haven't found any info on this particular maintainer or 3.0l diesels.

I have a 2022 Rub JL and Dealer, just installed the 3rd small battery and 2nd main battery. Once mine is out of warranter, I will remove the 2nd battery and just run one main battery. Very frustrating having a new Jeep. It freaks out when it will not start (wiper run, dash binks, gauges go up and down), have to jump with a semi-truck jump box to start. Will not jump with my jump box that will start a Ford diesel super duty. Bad design with a small motorcycle-type battery.

Buy a quality main battery and yes on the noco it works amazing. My main died in year one. I replaced it with a quality main battery and no issues since. Original ESS battery is holding strong. I use the noco when it will sit more than 2days.

You could get a battery tender. I’m not sure if it will keep both charged. But I know with single batteries it works

I keep my diesel with two batteries (main and aux) on a battery tender. Both are fully charged.

I have that same noco, I used it several times. When you hook it up on the main battery does it also keep the aux battery topped off too? For some reason, I don’t think it does.

the Mopar batteries are notoriously poor. sadly, the dealer is probably just giving you another set of the same batteries that already aren't working in your situation.

since you're probably close to off warranty anyway, i'd suggest that before you start modifying your J**p or your behavior you try putting a pair of quality AGM batts in there and see if your problems continue.

It does, it just takes longer to charge both

Why go with that particular model NOCO ?
IMO and many others, you should look at the NOCO-10
https://no.co/genius10

It will serve you better and give you more options. Just buy the extension and hard wire it to the battery. Plug in the NOCO-10 when needed.

I also own the NOCO GB50 and GB70 for jump boxes, the GB70 is for my diesel.

Stellantis SUCKS
Absolutely ridiculous to have to place any vehicle on a battery tender. It’s a huge flaw with the JL line and can literally leave you stranded at any moment or at the very least, annoy the shit out of you on a daily basis treating the latest sensor having a nervous break down.
don’t expect Stellantis to fix it since they essentially hate the US market, and the EU doesn’t care about wranglers.

Took it back to the delaer and they said the main battery was still good but they had to replace the starting battery for the third time. The main battery was only replaced once, that was when the Jeep was a year old. They have changed out the starting battery 3 times, aprox once a year.

I got a DC amp meter and tested after the jeep has been sitting for a couple hours. The meter jumps arround. It sits at 0.5 for like 10 seconds, then jumps to 4.0 for a few seconds then to 1.0 or 2.0, then back to 0.5.
