I have been looking at getting a 2024 JLUR with a 3.6. The dealer near me now has 2025 and 2024 leftover on the lot. I noticed with the exact same specifications that the 2025 has significantly better MPG on the window sticker. The 2024 is rated at 16City 19 highway while the 2025 is 19 city and 23 highway. Same gearing same motor and both automatic, anyone know why the 2025 is rated for so much better MPG?

funny thing is I have a 2024 jlur with 3.6 too and i have the 16mpg 19mpg window sticker and I had seen other 2024 jlur window stickers with 3.6 that showed the higher mpg I chalked it up to just random numbers being thrown out for some reason.

The 24 was lower than previous years. At some point the Jeep website did not agree with the EPA website. I've never trusted their numbers at all because they give the same rating to a Sport with 3.45 final as to the Rubicon X with 4.56 final and larger tires.

Here's the EPA mileage history for the 3.6 AT (city/highway)

2018 18/23
2019 18/23
2020 18/23
2021 20/24
2022 19/24
2023 18/23 *1
2024 16/19 *2
2025 18/23

1* The 2023 was rated at 21/24 but changed to 18/23 and 19/24 (both are on the EPA site)
2* The 2024 was rated at 20/25 (EPA) and 17/23 (Jeep). In early 2024 it changed to 16/19.

So who knows. You'll get around 17-18 mpg on any of them apart from the eTorque, whatever the sticker says.

Edit: Somehow I forgot, in 2024 the Rubicon (and Willys) went to the heavier front axle with CVs and no FAD. That definitely would reduce fuel economy.

my buddy and I bought 24's the same day he got the 4.56 gears and winch package so his was heavier but he consistently got much better mpg then me for some reason. We traveled to Moab together and filled up side by side every tank full (for around 2000 miles) and he always get better every fill up and our buddy that has a 2023 extreme with 2.0 and 37's got better yet.

To make matters worse. I have a 22' Willys XR and my MPG dash is roughly about 15-17% more than what I'm actually getting.

My dash will say Im getting 19mpg and I'm actually closer to 16mpg.

Do the math at the pump.

strangely enough on the highway my dash matches my actual figured at the pump. My speed/trip are spot on according to a stand alone gps and speedometer app.

Thanks for the replies,
I didn’t realize it would fluctuate that much, wanted to make sure they didn’t magically improve gas mileage for the 2025s.
