Deposits are - in most cases - meaningless. In most states, a dealer could opt to sell the vehicle to someone else when it arrives and refund a buyer's deposit. In many states, a buyer could decide they no longer wanted the vehicle, and walk away from the sold order and the dealer would be legally obligated to refund the buyer's deposit.

I have called out every single dealer in Colorado that has asked me for a "non-refundable deposit" when ordering a vehicle by saying "you and I both know it is against the law in Colorado for you to keep my deposit should I walk away from the order, so let's skip the bullshit," and they have placed my order without a deposit.

For my Jeep, I ordered it from a friend who is the GM of the dealer I ordered it from (in California). He required no deposit. Deposits are required to be refunded in California, as well, unless physical delivery is taken.

At this point, there are so many dealers selling 392s with NO dealer markup whatsoever that you should not be paying above MSRP for one.

The 392 is still available to order right now. I suggest that you research the applicable laws in your state surrounding deposits and, if you find you have the ability to walk away and get your deposit back, I suggest you tell your dealer that - since it has taken so long to get the order built, that you want the vehicle at MSRP at the time of order, with no markup, or you will be walking away and buying one of a dealer lot at MSRP, or placing an order with a new dealer that will sell it to you for under MSRP.

The vehicle market has softened a lot in the last year due to rising interest rates. You've got a bad deal. Time to renegotiate or walk away and order another, or buy one that's sitting on a dealer lot - Sting Gray isn't hard to come by if you start searching Jeep's inventory and using zip codes from major metro areas. I found a bunch in Texas and California when I was looking...

I don't know where you ordered from, but a 2 minute Google search on Oklahoma (as I see your location is OKC)...

Oklahoma(dot)gov...

"If a dealer takes a deposit on a vehicle, the dealer shall give the consumer a written receipt. The receipt should specify the length of time the deposit will hold the vehicle and whether the deposit is refundable. If no written receipt is made or if it is not noted on the receipt that the deposit is not refundable, it shall be deemed to be refundable."
Agree with everything you said, however while searching for a 392 that's on the lot in the past week, I discovered just how difficult / time consuming this is.

First (like you mentioned), Jeep's web site only allows inventory searches within a 250-mile radius from a zip code, so you need to compile a list of zip codes and start doing searches in each one, looking at each vehicle listed. Jeep's inventory search sucks and does not allow you to correctly filter out some of the options you don't want. For example, I don't want the XR package, but I can't exclude it. Same with SOT roof. Of course you can use a nationwide site like cars.com but not all dealers post their vehicles there.

Second, many 392's listed by many dealers are fake - meaning they are either pre-sold orders or just do not exist (have already been sold, etc. ). I think dealers purposely do not remove these listings because they want traffic. There is a dealer that has 15 (FIFTEEN!!!) 392's listed on Cars.com. Obviously we all know it's fake.

Third, a lot of dealers web sites do not include a window sticker link, so you need to take each VIN and paste it into the Chrysler's web site to see exact colors and options.

Fourth, many dealers are still smoking crack and want to charge a mark-up AND some hidden fees, which they disclose only AFTER you email them and ask a direct question (and even then it's like pulling teeth).

All this crap consumes an incredible amount of time and this is BEFORE you try to actually proceed with buying and discover some more random BS that a dealer can come up with. This is the exact reason why I ordered from a forum dealer, but I never expected a 7-8 months delivery time.

The good news is - I went into E status yesterday, so assuming all goes well, I'll hit KZ status in a few days, at which time - according to my previous predictions - you should hit D1... ;)
Mine will hit shipped the day before Armageddon! ??

It's pretty easy to search using Jeep's website if you set your filter, then Google "most populous zip codes" and use the zip codes found from that (here's a good list of them) and bounce around between states. With a 250 mile range, you can skip many of the zip codes, if you have Google Maps handy.

More people in an area means dealers do more sales volume, which means more allocations, which typically means larger inventory. That will get you the overwhelming majority of the inventory.

It took me less than an hour to find every 392 in the country that matched my criteria AND call the dealers they were at to inquire if the Jeep was actually on the lot, and confirm pricing.

Moreover, every single Jeep in the search results on Jeep's website has a link to the window sticker if you click the VIN number, and most of them have a link to the vehicle on the dealer's website.

Pretty easy stuff, honestly.

So, have you reconsidered telling us what dealer you've ordered from? Or... maybe, just include that info in the next screenshot you post "accidentally"? I doubt any of the sales guys at the dealer are paying attention to this thread, anyway...

Haven't been following the current order/delivered timetable.

My '21 Hella took 15 weeks.
My '22 Hydro took 15 weeks.
Getting quotes right now on a '23 Earl.

What sort of order/delivered times seem average now?
Does there still seem to be a transportation issue after the build is complete?
Both of mine rotted on a lot in Toledo for a month, waiting on a ride.

If you're going to get a 392, 2 door, or manual, expect a LONG wait. (I'm going on 19 weeks for my 2 door with no build date in sight)

Otherwise I haven't noticed many 4 doors or 4xe with long waits.

No. I sold my Hella for the Hydro and will sell my Hydro for the Earl, if I get it.
Just got the quotes back, FCA is fricken now charging $495 for colored paint. $695 for Punk'n.
That shit needs to stop. It's marketing genius, but it is bullcrap that will most likely be with us forever across all manufacturers.

I can picture that meeting now.

Millennial Intern "Hey, we should charge for any color besides White"
Entire board room full of senior executives laughing "Yeah, righttttt"
Two months later, entire board room, "Hey that worked great, people really are stupid. We should charge even more for "limited" colors."
Millennial Intern now VP of Marketing.

In regards to the trackers, is there a schedule they update? Im following 3 of them, because ya know... we are all addicts to status changes :).
Anyway, one of them gave me my build sheet this morning, the rest still show unavailable.

129 days and still in C. My guess is having the 6 speed and loaded with most options is the culprit. I do not even feel excited anymore but guessing that will change if I ever see movement on this thing. Jeep nor dealer cannot give me any info on what is causing such a delay.
