Well, my Georgia Bulldogs rolled the LSU Tigers last night to become SEC Champions, and this morning, JeepTracker informed me that I'm in E Status!!!

It’s been a decent week for several in here. Im glad to see movement. I think mine is still in trim but the tracking seems to change a couple days after the actual date. Fingers crossed I have a ship status tomorrow. ?
Of course we all know how good the predictably is. I still feel pretty good about it being built, that was a good update.

Cara must be overwhelmed with all these Jeeps going into production……
Let’s hope she doesn’t have a melt-down! Others may require her expertise

So the subject of allocations keeps coming up. Are there instances of dealerships taking orders when they know they don’t have allocations? I ask because when I went to place my order, the sales person wasn’t even sure if my order could be placed. She had to check in with the sales manager. She came back with good news - the order could be placed. But they required a $2500 deposit since it was a “special model” and they also tacked on $2500 above MSRP. Those details aren’t so important. At this point I’m just griping about everything. My concern is that the 392 with XR package can no longer be ordered and the V8 may not even be offered next year. This may have been my one shot.

Deposits are - in most cases - meaningless. In most states, a dealer could opt to sell the vehicle to someone else when it arrives and refund a buyer's deposit. In many states, a buyer could decide they no longer wanted the vehicle, and walk away from the sold order and the dealer would be legally obligated to refund the buyer's deposit.

I have called out every single dealer in Colorado that has asked me for a "non-refundable deposit" when ordering a vehicle by saying "you and I both know it is against the law in Colorado for you to keep my deposit should I walk away from the order, so let's skip the bullshit," and they have placed my order without a deposit.

For my Jeep, I ordered it from a friend who is the GM of the dealer I ordered it from (in California). He required no deposit. Deposits are required to be refunded in California, as well, unless physical delivery is taken.

At this point, there are so many dealers selling 392s with NO dealer markup whatsoever that you should not be paying above MSRP for one.

The 392 is still available to order right now. I suggest that you research the applicable laws in your state surrounding deposits and, if you find you have the ability to walk away and get your deposit back, I suggest you tell your dealer that - since it has taken so long to get the order built, that you want the vehicle at MSRP at the time of order, with no markup, or you will be walking away and buying one of a dealer lot at MSRP, or placing an order with a new dealer that will sell it to you for under MSRP.

The vehicle market has softened a lot in the last year due to rising interest rates. You've got a bad deal. Time to renegotiate or walk away and order another, or buy one that's sitting on a dealer lot - Sting Gray isn't hard to come by if you start searching Jeep's inventory and using zip codes from major metro areas. I found a bunch in Texas and California when I was looking...

I don't know where you ordered from, but a 2 minute Google search on Oklahoma (as I see your location is OKC)...

Oklahoma(dot)gov...

"If a dealer takes a deposit on a vehicle, the dealer shall give the consumer a written receipt. The receipt should specify the length of time the deposit will hold the vehicle and whether the deposit is refundable. If no written receipt is made or if it is not noted on the receipt that the deposit is not refundable, it shall be deemed to be refundable."

The good news is - I went into E status yesterday, so assuming all goes well, I'll hit KZ status in a few days, at which time - according to my previous predictions - you should hit D1... ;)
