Recently sold a 2014 FJ Cruiser with 70K miles for $2k MORE than we originally paid for it. It's nuts out there right now.

Made it a little easier to handle the corresponding new car price increases. JLUR on the way.

If you order under invoice and trade in or sell in this market, you can really clean up.

The only way you know what they are paying you for your “trade” is to drive in and ask what they’ll write a check for on the spot, if they pay what they promised in the home mailer then you can start shopping for the new one anywhere.

Mixing the trade in the deal with a new vehicle means you have no idea what they are paying for your trade. With holdbacks, factory to dealer rebates etc. there can be several thousand dollars of dealer profit back of invoice.

Nothing wrong with any of that (free enterprise, capitalism etc) and if you leave happy with the car you want and no buyers remorse it was a good day.
