2020 JL owner here. The dash lighting up like a Christmas tree is definitely dying batteries. I’ve seen the occurrence 3 times on mine and both times the dealer threw batteries at it. On the last occurrence, I deleted the auxiliary battery and moved on. Your “steering locked up” sounds like you lost power steering. I’d flip the lid on the power distribution center (fuse block) and press every fuse in the block firmly to ensure their isn’t one slightly loose and corroding.
The CANBUS connector underneath the glovebox is gaining fame as others have mentioned. It seems to like to oxidize and disrupt the low voltage at that connection. Try cleaning it before tossing it. Good luck!
