I read somewhere and not able to locate that if the bolts on the 2019 steering gear box were the same size, it had most likely been updated under the TSB.

Would this be fact or fiction?

When you say same size, are you talking OA bolt length or the size of the hex head? On the aluminum boxes, the bolts had the same hex head, but were of two different lengths. Looks at the bolts at the outside of the frame, you couldn't tell a difference. Not sure on the new box though.

Look under the jeep. If the box is light gray, its aluminum. If its painted black, its the new cast iron unit. Only 2021's are coming from the factory with the new iron box. All previous years came with the old box, except for those that got the tsb done to them.

The aluminum box had 2 different length bolts. I bought 2 of each part number a while before the tsb came out. Was gonna use new bolts when installing the Synergy track bar bracket, but never got around to it because the sector shaft brace was a joke that I didn't realize until it was in my hand.
