Rubicon Recon 2.0T eTorque. What is this black soot on garage floor, and should I be worried? It wipes right up and is back right away. I do not sit at idle for too long. Sorry if this is a dumb question and has been answered. I looked& searched but couldn’t find.

This is totally normal with any turbo vehicle. Condensation will form in the exhaust and with the turbo, this condensation will form on the turbine wheel and run down the down pipe. You'll see these little black spots from time to time right after start-up on a humid day or chilly morning. Water or water vapor is a part of the combustion process and with a little added fuel for the turbo engines, seeing a little black spot on the floor like this is normal. Now, if this turns into something where you see oil literally dripping from the exhaust tip, then that indicates something more serious; turbo failure of some sort. This isn't one of those cases though.

My 2020 JLUR 2.0T has soot coming out of the Catalytic Converter’s pin sized hole. I’m not even sure a pin sized hole is even supposed to be on my CC. Upon start up, you can feel the heat and a mist come out of this little hole along with black soot. After just two days I will have a dark black circle form on the floor of my garage. I have to clean up this mess once a week. There is also a small amount of soot that comes out of my tail pipe which I’ve read here is normal. Is my CC going bad and is it supposed to have a pin sized hole in it at all??

Does your CC have a pin size hole in it near the front driver side too? I have soot in two places in my garage.

If you park it on blacktop, the soot goes away.

Yes, there is soot and it's a function of just about everything out there today. Plus, many manufacturers put drain holes in the mufflers, thus soot will come out there too.

I'll check later, but I assume so. The soot is from the middle of my jeep not the back.

Yes. The worse of the soot is from the front driver side in the middle of the CC where the pin hole is. Thank you. Glad to know it’s pretty normal and I’m not the only person experiencing this✌🏽

Dealership says it’s normal. Others here have said they have the same issue. I don’t know what to do or what to believe about this.
