Trying to figure out where to start, My 2018 2.0 JLU has started to run very hot, but only at drive thru or extended idles of 2-4 minutes. The Jeep constantly stays at 220 or under during all normal operation, but if I pull into a drive thru, it will jump up to the mid 240-255 range, causing the heat warning to come on the dash. The fan does kick on, and it will hover around the spot without maxing out the temp on the dash. Once I clear the idle position, the car's heat will settle down within a few miles of driving back to normal and the warning light goes away. Thinking of starting with the thermostat if there is not a better place to start. No fluid leaks in my garage, I am in Florida, this started happening a month back when we were in the upper 80's but has never done this in the 5 years I have owned the vehicle.

Its right at the point where the reservoir halves meet, right at the minimum line. I can try adding the 1/4-1/2 inch to get it to the max to see if that will help.

Did you check the coolant level in the main reservoir back near the firewall?

Coolant needs to be checked cold. If it's at that level when the engine is hot, it's low.

You may need to check it several times to allow air to work its way out of the system.

Coolant didn’t help, I did my checks in the morning before driving, wasn’t low, but I topped off a bit still. It’s currently at the dealership, waiting on the news

Ended up being a vacuum seal on a hose was what caused it, hoses all replaced and running normal now.
