I took the plunge to replace my 2021 factory clutch with the center force II.
@ 15000 miles.

New clutch is a night and day difference, except I have trouble occasionally getting in and out of 1st and reverse. To get it in I can goto 4th and it goes rite in. To get it out can be a chore at low rpm’s. Regular driving down the road higher rpm it has no problems shifting in or out.

Second major problems it occasionally, when pressing the clutch to stop the Jeep, it stays under power. I can stop it with the break, and put it in neutral sometimes. knowing the clutch would be slipping if not in neutral. I have found in Lo range without pushing in the clutch, pushing the shifter up to first gear, the Jeep starts creeping forward and I can get it in to first. (Without using the clutch without grinding)

The local Jeep dealer installed the clutch and has been super good to work with and has taken it back in several times to look it over bleed the system, check the cabling they and I are out of ideas.

I called center force many times, they said bleed the system and I did again and again and again. I explained all my story to them today and they recommended opening everything up and check the clutch. I don’t see how I can ask Jeep dealer to do this work for a faulty clutch? I’m beyond frustrated and am thinking of putting a factory clutch back

in and trading my dream Jeep off.
Any insight form experience would be appreciated.

The clutch isn't completely disengaging. This is either due to air in the hydraulics or something mechanical in the clutch (warpage, something out of spec, etc), flywheel (excessive runout), release arm (bent), release bearing (assembled wrong, out of spec, etc). Another possibility is the clutch disc is sticking on the transmission input shaft causing it to rub on the flywheel when you release the clutch.

Thanks for the insight, it helped allot.
I talked to summit and they said they would send me another clutch, and or they would take this one back. I’ll contact the shop to see how they feel about doing the work again. But I’ll probably take it apart myself with some help.

Nothing to add in terms of remedies that has already been covered here but can confirm in my case that a properly sorted CFII clutch in the JL should not have your symptoms.

One question, does the pedal feel consistent throughout the stroke every time? If not there likely is air still in the system.

It does sound like it's not disengaged for whatever reason. Pete nailed the possibilities. I suspect human error on the part of the dealership, but I am biased. You should absolutely try to tackle the next one with the help of a friend. Subscribed to see what resolves this.

The clutch feels great all the time, engaging the same spot every time.
Even when it has the issue of not disengaging clutch feels the same.

why does it disengage 98% of the time and the 2% when you really can’t afford the extra room to play with it to get it disengaged it acts up. It acts like it knows When it should malfunction to make shit difficult.

. Not sure why it looks like this. But definitely some burn going on. Summit has already sent a new clutch to replace it.

You would think a dealership will have someone good in the back shop. If not they will be after the recall comes down!

interesting. looks like it wasn't working properly. kind of looks like just the center was engaging on the clutch plate. almost like the outer edge isnt moving at all

Update!!!
Finally got it back together.

I received a new cf replacement clutch kit from summit. They were great to work with.
I talked to cf I sent them the pictures of the cf clutch, I was having problems with, they requested to send me a new clutch plate that they tested on the bench to go with the new clutch kit.

I put it all back together with the new plate from cf and so far so good, 150 miles on the new clutch shifts great, and everything operates as it should.

My conclusion is that the clutch plate was not sliding on the shaft and not disengaging.

It appears the release bearing has some offset wear between the center plastic guide and outer bearing housing. The center plastic guide slides on the trans center hub so I'm assuming the release bearing fork pivot was not seated on the ball correctly causing the bearing case to not contact the pressure plate flat and shift to the side causing it to contact the plastic center.

OP, did you see this when you disassembled the clutch? Is there anything else that would cause the outer bearing case to shift and rub against the plastic center?
