This is the Colle del Colombardo or Collombardo is an alpine pass (1,888 m 6,194 ft) of the Graian Alps located in the Province of Turin and which connects the lower Susa Valley with the Viù Valley, more precisely the municipalities of Condove and Lemie.

According to an ancient legend, treasures belonging to the Lombard people are hidden in the area of the mountain. When the Franks, led by their king Charlemagne, drove them out of northern Italy after two centuries of domination with the decisive battle of the Chiuse (fought in 773 at the entrance to the Val di Susa between the buttresses of nearby Mount Pirchiriano and Rocca Sella), some of these fleeing warriors found shelter in the Condove mountains. Thus they gave life to a new settlement which came naturally to call the Longobard hill, later abbreviated to Colombardo.

As evidence of this human settlement, near the hill to the west, there is a modest relief in the shape of a "panettone" called Tomba di Matolda (2.084 m 6.837 ft), in which according to a legend a barbarian princess was buried.

The rumors about the alleged treasure of the Longobards seem to find confirmation in certain discoveries that would have been made by some shepherds of Lemie, on the side of the Valle di Viù, towards the end of the 19th century.
