I know this has been discussed a lot, but I thought Iād give my experience.
My 2018 JLU Sport steered and handled beautifully before the swap, both on and off-road.
Then Alan @walweb offered me his Rubi takeoff suspension for $200, and said heād install it for free, if I came up to Colorado...
I bought a set of tires on the Friday before Memorial Day, from DT in Witchita FallsTX.
Supposedly 10% off, on sale. Turned out it was a rebate I had to apply for, not a simple discount, as I was led to believe.
I went ahead with the deal though, as I had driven 60 miles.
Applied for the...
Iām going on an extended camping/wheeling trip, just me and my 2 dogs.
Iāve already removed the rear seat, and extended the flat platform for sleeping. Lots of stubborn red-loctited bolts, and 2 nuts, but no electricity.
Iāll likely never reinstall it until trade-in.
I could make a nice...
I have a Honda 2kw generator, with 12v accessory cables. I also have a good battery charger.
And I have an ARB fridge on the way.
I like to camp in remote places, often in one spot for several days, so Iām going to need to charge my Jeep battery every couple days, Iām guessing.
So should I...
I have decided to buy one or the other.
The 37 quart will be adequate for my expected needs, but the 50 is only $10 more ($775/$785) on Amazon. So the price difference is meaningless.
They use the same compressor. Will the 37 use significantly less power due to 20% less volume to cool? Or once...
The nearly $1k cost put me off for awhile, but ice is just a PITA.
Iām ready to pull the trigger on one.
I want a top-load, cooler-style, compressor fridge. 40-50 quart.
Dual freezer/fridge zones would be nice, but not critical.
Power draw is very important to me, as I am likely to camp...
Iām going to put Rubicon suspension under my 2018 JLU Sport in a couple of weeks.
I want to install QD front sway bars, or QD ends, at the same time, if not a big deal to do so.
Any recommendations, with quality, ease of installation and ease of use my highest priorities?
Price matters...
The spare tire on the back of a Jeep is critically important to its very Jeepness. It just is. It has to be there.
Jeeps with spare tire deletes are halfway to Hondas. Donāt. Just donāt.
And it needs to be nekkid and proud. No spare tire covers.
No matter how cool or clever you think YOUR...
Iām just starting this thread without much hard information to share. Yet.
A few of us are interested in building minimalist, lightweight trailers in which we can at least sleep comfortably while traveling. Some may want more, some much more, but the āOverlandā trailers are just ridiculous in...
Iām gathering tools to do as much of my own work as I can.
Iām really enjoying both the sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that itās done right.
It had been a long time since I worked on my rig. Forgot how satisfying it can be.
Tired of squirming around on my back on the driveway...
Iām inclined to do it, but I donāt want to mess up a good thing. My Sport handles impeccably, and tracks like a train.
I have two concerns:
1. Warranty. If I have front suspension problems down the road, could this swap negate or complicate warranty?
2. While Iād like the 1.5ā lift, better...
I think I understand it in principle, but I am preternaturally disposed to hate such things.
Canāt help it.
Is it in fact useful, or just another nanny which assumes Iām an idiot, will make bad decisions, and seeks to save me from my stupid self?
Iāve been letting overpriced and under-qualified, and especially donāt give-a-shit morons wrench on my vehicles for too damn long.
I used to wrench quite a bit, but as I got more affluent, and the vehicles got more complicated, I stopped.
My time was worth more to me than the cost of having...
Thanks, Nanny.
I was treated to this message for 2 freaking hours this morning while cruising easy trails on my deer lease. With a ābongā every few seconds.
No worries, though. Nanny was right. Vehicle was in fact not in park.
I kept checking as I drove along in 4H-1, and sure enough, Nanny...
Iām sure Iām not alone in this.
When I see a new post that is just a whole screen of solid text, I just move on.
Donāt ramble if you want to be read.
Get to the point. We donāt care what your brotherās nephew did back in ā84. .
I removed the whole rear seat in my JLU and made a flat floor. Iām happy with it.
I noticed right off that there were new noises coming from there, though, when wheeling. Flexing noises.
Not loud, and Iām ok with them, but I want to be sure itās not going to be an issue.
The seat frame is...
I got a letter today, ostensibly from Jeep/FCA. Seems legit.
Itās offering an extended warranty. Called the number, and dude says I can get 8 years, 85k miles (you can choose your years and miles), bumper to bumper, for $2885.
Of course thatās only a 5 year extension, but still, $577 a year...
Thatās it.
Just wanted yāall to know that whatever I ever say, itās just my two cents.
I just wanted to make that crystal clear, in case yāall were wondering whose cents or how many cents I was posting.
Just mine. Just two. Always.
I put 33s on my Sport, and just checked it at 80mph. Still tracks like a train. Lost a little power, but thatās ok. Canāt tell that I lost any mpg.
I went with 255/80s rather than 285/70s, because I wanted the height but not the width or weight.
Iām happy.
I have an opportunity (thanks to...
