Good Day All,

Im new to the forum and wanted to share the rig as well as ask you all for some feedback. I have a 2021 JLU Sport on a 3.5” Clayton’s lift with 37s. I am currently on stock Dana 30/35 axles with 3.45 gearing, but I just got 44s off a 392 XR so hope to get those on soon.
These things sure are money pits but I love it. Please let me know any suggestions on what I should do to it next!

-Cheers,
Cole

How’s driving with the 37’s on 3.45 gears? And when do you plan on doing your swap? I have to do one soon here too, can wait to see you complete yours.

I just got all my parts in so I’m hoping to get the swap done in the next few days. The 3.45 gears with 37’s honestly wasn’t that bad. That being said I never saw 8th gear and rarely saw 7th unless I was on a flat highway. The jeep was also not very happy going up steep hills, but it did it 😂

Got the rear axle in today, found out that I need to get a new rear drive shaft. I thought I was just going to need the front drive shaft so now I have to wait for that to come in. Intstall honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Biggest pain was getting the parking cable attached.

I got them for about 4k, they were off a 2026 392 XR. I got them from a shop that just built one.

I finally got around to installing the front axle along with the rear drive shaft. I went with Adam’s drive shafts.

I also found out that the new full float Dana 44s have a different rear speed sensor so I was welcomed to a Christmas tree on the dashboard when I went to drive it. Part number: 68537357AA if you’re curious.

these were all the codes I got. Everything went away once I replaced the sensors thankfully 😅

I also noticed I drive shaft vibration and hum from the front drive shaft at about 60-70 mph. I have read of other people having this issue with Adam’s front drive shafts and not having a FAD. However I haven’t driven the jeep in what feels like forever and I’m gonna live with it for now and get it rebalanced at some point in the future.

Have you thought about swapping over the fad?

thats not just adams, its because your front driveshaft is always spinning. You have to really dial in the caster angle or just put the fad in, which is easy. Pull the fad out of your old axle and put in the new one. Thats what i did.

you got a smokin deal on those axles.

I didn’t know I could just swap the fad in. Do you have to get new axle shafts? Or it will work with the ones in them

you dont need anything. It goes right in. Stella in all of her splendid wisdom and glory decided to keep the same 2 piece axles shafts on the 392, just with no fad system lol. It pops right in. Just make sure youre in 2wd when you install it (should be of course) so its lined up the same as when its coming out.

many 392 owners are retrofitting the fad system once they put an after market driveshaft up front, or you may get vibrations. They have to do wiring and what not to make it work but your jeep is already set up for fad so youre golden ponyboy

So… I don’t know the exact year I think 2024 or 2025 they started making a full float Dana 44 which is the rear axle I got, and those axles have a different speed sensor from the previous years. They look exactly the same, but the old sensors will not work on the new axle you will get and abs light along with others.
