I have a Hard Top on my 2014 JK. I am looking at trading for a JL. Comfortable with the hard top, but am considering the Sky One-Touch Power Top. Let me know your experience with the Sky One-Touch with your pros and cons.

If you ever want to take all of the top off, stick with the traditional hard top and buy a sunrider for the front. If you never plan to take all of the top off, the SOT is convenient.

In my 60s the 3 piece removable hardtop on my 2018 Willys was great. Even had a crank to remove the rear cover. In my 70s it's all about easy and that why the 2025 Sahara has the Sky One-Touch.

Had one and traded it. If you get a SOT make sure you get the alpine radio (9 speaker) or spend $$ on a upgrade system. At almost any speed over 65 it’s useless and if your driving into the wind expect plenty of wind noise - at least that was my experience. Had mine for about 19 months and traded it for a JL.

Favorite feature of my JL, a year round convertible if you wish and the rear two corner windows can be removed for perfect airflow in the cabin.
Can open and close the SOT up to 60 MPH.
Would never get another Jeep without it.

The SOT is why I'm not in a Bronco. The pro's and con's list of each were even and the SOT was the huge tie breaker.

I love mine. It's louder in the cabin than the normal hardtop but the Hothead liner went a long way to negating that.

If you want to drive at highway speed with it open there is quite a bit of fabric buffeting. But because it's convenient to just open it once at the trailhead or while around town, I don't even bother leaving it open on the highway.

I can confirm that the Alpine system is fine with the SOT, both open and closed. There is a consistent weird blip in audio when opening and closing that folks on here seem to think is the system switching between open and closed sound profiles.

I will note that I have never bothered to take out the corner windows. Unless Jeep was also going to give us a way to easily remove the rear glass, I don't see the point. Having a panoramic, on-demand sunroof is more than enough for me.

Had a rental with SOT. You'll love it. Just watch your hat, the wind will suck it right off your head.

I bought my 2018 last summer with a SOT. I’ve had two JK’s with hardtops(one with the carpet liner).
the SOT is louder but it’s not extreme. I have had no issues with the SOT, in fact it is more watertight than my previous two.
You can’t put much weight on the roof rails, there is also more heat in the summer but I wouldn’t have another jeep without one.

You not taking out the rear windows gives you the buffeting, there is perfect airflow thru the cabin with the SOT open and the rear windows out and you're choosing not to utilize it.
They even gave you a bag to put them in.

Leave the house in the morning and it's sunny? Hit the button to open it up.

Starts to rain on the way to your destination? Hit the button to close it up.

Rain stops? Hit the button to open it again.

Rinse and repeat.

I’ve found that with the removable quarter windows that come with the sky one touch, with the top back and the quarter windows out and especially with doors off I don’t feel the need to remove the entire top. Do wish the rear window had a quick disconnect and removal but not a deal breaker. I’ve removed entire top and was relatively easy with just a handful of easy bolts to remove and a quick disconnect for power. We love it!

I love mine! All my previous Jeeps were soft tops that I almost never took off, since it was just too much effort for short runs around town and I've never been one to like to leave a vehicle open to the elements/people when I'm not around. (Yes, I have trust issues. 😂) With the SOT, I open it all the time, since I can easily close it in seconds like a regular convertible top when I get back home or to destination.

Love my SOT. But unless you open the top further than the front row seats ie if you have reason to open the top further for the backseat riders often, the sunrider is a great option and would save you several thousand $$.

But I personally love the SOT and have had no issues. I do have the Hotheads headliner which in my opinion is a must for sound mitigation and looks OEM.
