thud noise when engaging parking brake

hi everyone, i have a 2019 jlu 6speed. new thudding noise when engaging parking brake. tested on flat and incline surfaces, same thing. any ideas?

My 2019 JLU Sport does that sometimes. Doesn't seem to hurt anything and the emergency brake holds great.

My guess is the cable when it gets tight is taking something

Wondering if this is worth a trip to the dealer.. i didnt have the most pleasant experience when my slave cylinder was having issues a few months back..

.......its a jeep thing, but really its probably just tapping the plastic center console area under neath or needs adjusted..

If you use your ebrake a lot I would let them re adjust it. Until then just ignore the noise I would just make sure that your ebrake is actually engaging so it doesn’t roll away if you leave it out of gear and rely only on the ebrake

When I pull the brake up, even as high as it can go, I don't hear this and I use the brake a lot. @FirecrackerRedJLU has good advice. Take it in for a look-see; it's warranty work, and you can't go wrong (unless there's an oil change involved).

Thanks for the responses. Scheduled an appointment for next Thursday. Don't think I'll have issues with the ebrake failing but just better for the peace of mind. Will update if necessary

I know this is an older thread...but what did you do about your brake? Mine is doing it now and not sure what to do?

Mine does that from time to time. The brake still works just fine though. It's like there's a guide that it's popping off of or something.

You're Jeep is 2 years old with a factory warranty. If the noise is enough to get you to post on here, then it is obviously bothering you enough to warrant getting it fixed, Make an appointment at your dealer (yes, they are open for service) and bring it in.

didnt get the chance to bring it in, not that a big a deal for me to go out my way to deal w dealership.

i have to bring it in for the clutch recall soon so i’ll just have them take a look at it then.
