Jeep Now Offering Window Storage Bag?

Is this it--just Dual Top? I was lead to believe uudog that any order that included a soft top, ironically precluded the simultaneous ordering of the bag to protect it, regardless of which of the 4 ways said top could be ordered: a) Dual, b) basic, c) premium black, d) premium tan.

I, like you, was a dual top order.

That is what Craig told me on two separate occasions. He said the glitch was when you ordered the dual tops. I did not have him specify if there were any successful orders when ordering the soft tops alone.

I didn't mean the freedom panels. The back side windows on the power soft top are removable. And I believe that model comes with storage bags for them.

I neglected to order the storage bag when placing my original purchase order. When I picked up the Jeep yesterday, I asked the parts guys about the storage bag, but they had no idea it even existed.

Based on my experience with the premium top, I don't see how one would want to try and/or attempt to roll up the plastic windows. They are very stiff and it seems like they would crease. So, I laid them down flat on my dining room table. IMO, any storage bag for the premium top will have to allow them to stack like pancakes.

This is EXTREMELY helpful info right here. Knowing the premium windows (that's the top I ordered as well) can't roll just saved me from buying an ineffective bag. I'll need to research a different option. Thank you - Snerf.

James: was your problem your inability, independent of vehicle purchase, to order this item from Mopar (product code CWJ, MSRP $75, Invoice a.k.a. FWP factory wholesale price $67) or like me, order it at the time of vehicle purchase from the FCA ordering system the dealers use, when you also selected a top option that included a soft top (e.g. basic soft top, premium tan soft top, premium black soft top, or dual top)??

Your profile suggests that you've already put your JL order in.

Russ: I ordered my Jeep on 2-Jan and received it on 26-Feb. There was no option in the configuration back then to even select it, and my dealer didn’t mention it as an option to add to my order. First I saw any mention of it was today. Hope to hear back from Mopar soon.

For the side windows I use the freedom top storage bag from my JK, works perfect. For the rear... it kind of sucks. It doesn't roll and scratches very easy. I have the premium top even and already scratched it. Would like a solution for the rear for sure!

Yikes! How did you scratch it? I heard they're difficult to scratch this go-around when compared to the JK, so that's surprising.

I took off at my hotel for a show last weekend. Looks like I hit it on the 3rd brake light that is raised for the 35. Also the large plastic surrounds attach to the side windows have scratched the tub as well.

Here's a photo of my plastic windows from the premium soft top. Any storage bag is going to have to rectangular to accommodate them being stacked like pancakes - no way these windows roll up.

How did you roll the side windows? I can't get them to flex more than a few degrees. See photo of above of how I have them stacked.

I drove around with the top down yesterday, and while the folded top was pretty stable, today I decided to use a tie down to keep it secure. Here are two photos of my quick & dirty approach. I assume a tonneau cover will come out at some point, but the ease of use of getting the top down, and the appeal of just taking off is pretty compelling.

a) "Jeep specifically says they don't recommend rolling the soft top windows. A crease in the plastic is irreparable and could lead to cracks and tears when the temperature gets very hot or very cold."

b) "the Jeep storage bag is very high quality and has ample padding. You can stack up to 150 lbs on top of the bag without damaging the windows inside.

c) "You actually don't need the storage bag unless you plan on leave the windows somewhere outside the car. The trunk has a convenient way to hang the windows in the trunk."

Hmm, hang the plastic windows in the trunk? Now I'm going to have to go out there and figure out how that actually works.
