Hello,
Looking to buy these
ROAM JL Side Armor Steps – Jeep Wrangler JL (JL OE Location Body Mounted)

Anybody have these steps for JLU? Are the body mounted easier to install?

Thanks

I have the body mounted ones, they're easy to install. Even with taking off the Rubi rails first the whole installation took about 30 minutes. Hooking up the lights is a different story . . .
I second this. Install is easy, lights are a pain. Before you do anything though, throw away the lights that came with the steps and buy the Oznium 11mm bolt lights. You’ll have to enlarge the holes, but they are better quality by far.

I agree with this 1000%

The body mount steps are extremely easy to install, and can take a good amount of abuse. We have landed on rocks with ours while only needing to touch up the powdercoat.

Am I reading correctly that the frame mount version has a better coating? E-caoted before powder coated? Not really sure what that means but they recommend them for "rust belt". I believe NJ falls into that category . A. Is this correct? I was ready to buy the body mount because I don't need the strength of frame mount but could use extra rust protection. very salty where I live.

I emailed Roam and they confirmed that the frame mount version has an extra protection step of e-coating, that the body mount does not have. To bad as I really don't need the stronger frame mount version , but I do want the better rust protection.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I live in Michigan and we use a ton of salt on the roads. My Roam frame mounted steps have seen a Michigan winter and did not rust. None, zero. They have also held up well to rocks and such in Tennessee, Colorado and Utah.

I wish you luck on ordering them. It’s been 7 weeks since I ordered mines. I’m way past the eta.

I may go ahead and order then, to at least get on the list to get them. Did they charge your credit card yet?

I little surprised. Most companies don't charge you until they ship. I really like these and have spent countless hours looking at different side steps.

If waiting 7 or more weeks doesn’t work for you look into the LOD ones. They Look very similar and I think they are in stock ready to ship. They do cost more though
