I've probably had the worst experience out of anyone that's received their JL

Remember all those "should I buy a first model year JL or not?" threads?

Yeah...
I dunno... how many THOUSANDS of JL’s are now in the wild? We’ve only seen a handful of people, here, with real problems.

OP wins for the worst one so far... otherwise we’ve only seen:
  • Electrical problem with automatic (stranded on PA highway thread)
  • Loose airbag wire. Frustrating, but simple fix
  • Transmission leak
  • Wiper issue
  • USB port issue
  • Hard top noise (questionable)
Maybe a few others, not including the UConnect thing which was not JL specific.

Hearing tales of woe absolutely can worry us, but as far as I can tell real issues are few and far between. At least that’s what I’m gonna keep telling myself until my 2 door arrives. :like:

I agree with everything you're saying but I wouldn't even acknowledge the hyperbole nonsense. People see one issue and think it's everything. I personally ignore the negative.

Agreed, so far so good as far as I’m concerned.

I'm still on the fence about getting a Jeep. It's all going to come down to how well the BSG system works, how cool the new Bronco is, and if there's a couple more options/special edition for 2019/2020. I really want essentially a Sahara 2-door with a manual transmission and a cool paint job.

But I've seen some pretty nasty stories about the brand new JL's that make me thinking waiting for a year or two is a good idea.
I swear the other day, I saw a commercial either online or on TV, which had a brief shot of what looked like one of the Bronco prototype models. In fact at the time I made a mental note to review it - which means now I have forgotten where I viewed the clip.

Regarding nasty stories, a lot of things I have bought, have people complaining online about them. Like my LED projector that just might be the best thing I ever bought my family in terms of cost/fun, yet still there were people complaining it was terrible and had issues. Not sure what they were viewing or doing with it. Mostly I look for patterns. If I see enough different people complaining over time about the same thing, then it starts to raise a red flag.

You may be familiar with my post about my Electronic Throttle Control failure
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...malfunction-towed-jlur.3739/page-3#post-80999

Here's how everything has unfolded:

Picked up my JLUR on Saturday, 2/10 at 6:00PM, drove it 60 miles home, then took it for a cruise. At 65 miles, throttle goes out while driving, and I pull to the side of the road call Jeep roadside assistance. They send a tow truck that doesn't get there for 2.5 hours. It's raining and now 1:30AM. I uber home.

It sits at the dealership closest to my home (not the one I purchased it from) until Monday morning when I get a call from service letting me know they received my Jeep. The next day, they tell me It's the ECU and it will be a week before they even get the part.

I visited the dealership that I purchased it from and they really didn't seem to care. As long as it was getting fixed, they couldn't care less that my brand new Jeep was in the shop for a week. They asked if I needed a rental, that was the extent of their "customer service". They then referred me to Jeep Cares for any type of support.

In the meantime I notified @JeepCares and they created a case for me and said my case manager would reach out to me within 48 hours. Of course, no call.

Finally pick it up on Friday, 2/16 and take it home. There's a scuff on the passenger's seat and my painted tow hook is scratch badly. I call the dealership and they say it's the towing companies fault and they aren't responsible. They tell me to contact the towing company. Remember, it was Jeep Cares that called for the tow so I don't have the company's name. Saturday morning I take it for a spin and check engine light comes on. It did this just before it broke down last time, so I immediately drove it the 3 miles home.I didn't want to chance it breaking down again on the side of the road. I called Jeep Cares and was told to leave it parked until my case manager (which never called before) reaches out to me on Monday. By the end of day Monday, no call.

I call the Jeep Cares number and get to speak with someone who I guess is now my case manager. He offers to get it towed, which I declined, I'll just take my chances driving it given my previous experience. He also offers to find the tow company's info so that I can call them and shake them down for repair. Yay, more time and effort for me. He also informs me that FCA cannot compensate me for my time/trouble in any way. He puts this responsibility on the dealership that told me the exact opposite. He then calls the dealership and schedules an appointment with me there on the line with him.

I take the Jeep in at 8:00am making sure they have plenty of time to diagnose. At 4:00pm I hadn't heard anything, so I call them. They guy responsible for my Jeep is on the other line and they tell him to call me back. He finally calls back at 6:00pm to inform me that they haven't even touched my Jeep because they were too busy! What's the point of the appointment?!

As of right now I have a $55k Jeep that's been drivable 2 hours out of 11 days of ownership. This is the WORST customer service I have ever had with any product I have ever purchased, especially at this price point. Lemon law in TN is 4 attempts to fix, or thirty days in the shop the first year. I'm halfway there and I pray FCA doesn't wait until I have to enforce state law to make it right.

Am I being unreasonable? Honestly, tell me if I am. I understand it's a new model and problems come up, but what has me really upset is that no one wants to take responsibility, and I'm having to put way too much time and effort into a brand new Jeep.

@JeepCares is there anyway to escalate this to management?

Thanks for reading guys!

*Edit
I forget to mention my speakers went out 5 minutes after leaving the dealership for the entire hour long ride home. Service couldn’t recreate the issue.
Are you overreacting? Absolutely not! My suggestion to you is to be the most annoying person they’ve ever encountered. Don’t wait for their calls, call them every 30 minutes until you get them to respond to your satisfaction. The same for @JeepCares. You make them listen to you. I’m so sorry this has happened to you. Now it’s time for hardball.:punch: Good luck and keep us updated!

While I understand that nothing is perfect and usually roll with it, I do expect great customer service and a commitment to resolving problems (as some have experienced on this forum). Having ordered a 2 door in December and with no ETA (May?) I'm interested to see how this unfolds as it could influence whether I take delivery or not. Am I being over reactive? I'm the customer, that's my call.

Update:

Spoke to the owner of Freeland Jeep and he was very apologetic about my car not being looked at for an entire day even with an appointment. He said the cause of the check engine light had to do with something if the gas and brake are pressed at the same time (which of course I never did). They cleared the light and had a tech drive it 40 miles without it coming back on. While on the phone he asked if his head mechanic could drive it 60 miles round trip to his home and back (overnight) to further ensure the light wouldn't come on. I really didn't want my brand new Jeep at some strangers home overnight, but at this point I just wanted it fixed!

They call me at around 9am telling me it's working fine, and that I can pick it up. I pick it up at noon and drive it 40 miles throughout the day, and the check engine light comes back on! You have got to be kidding me. My new Jeep has now 330 miles (100 driven by me), scratches, and has spent the night with a stranger. I'm scheduled to bring it back in tomorrow. It's a 30 minute trip to the dealer each time. I'm so over this Wrangler.

I also received an email from my case manager saying he has been trying to call me. I've confirmed my number 3 times and he still says he can't reach me. FYI the FCA rep yesterday told me that he was lying and never reached out. Marvin, you're on my short list. I've received multiple phone calls each day, all week from everyone else. Marvin apparently doesn't know how to operate a phone. The FCA rep from yesterday said she'd have a supervisor call me within 2-3 business days. I told her I want a call the very next day, I am leaving Monday for NYC for 2 weeks and will have limited access to my phone because of all day meetings. Of course, no call today.

I'm now going file a complaint with the BBB and I've already spoken to a lawyer. Tomorrow will be its third time in the shop within the 2 weeks I've had it. After 4 attempts to fix, TN state law says they owe me a new Jeep and they have to pay for my legal fees. I'm only one check engine light away guys!

@JeepCares get your shit together. This service is pathetic. I receive better customer service buying a sandwich at Chick-fil-a.

At this point I'd really be pushing for a different jeep, I hope you get a new one.

@JeepCares - about to order a new JL this week. THIS situation is is making me really contemplate my choice. I get that things break, problems occur and bugs will need to be worked out. I get it... The problem here is the complete lack of customer service ON EVERY LEVEL! Someone at Jeep needs to get ahold of this situation and make it right. Don't let this customer have to resort to filing a complaint at the BBB. Fix it. Make it right... Show the THOUSANDS (probably much more) of people reading this thread that you stand behind your product and want to right this wrong as well as retain a happy/loyal customer.

You have every opportunity to restore our faith in this brand. Show us why we should be buying from you!

Stories like this keep making me wish a competent car company would build a complete Wrangler clone. The Toyota Wrangler. I'd be all for that.

I believe the trailer for Rampage with The Rock has a Bronco concept in it.
Bingo. I pulled a quick screen print from the trailer. That sort of product placement typically doesn't happen by chance. I wonder how closely the actual 2020 vehicle will resemble the concept version.

Edit: Found some quotes from Ford stating: “It does not represent the future Bronco beyond sharing the iconic Bronco name.” I was really hoping for a new Bronco that is more boxy like the classic version and utilitarian, instead of another typical modern SUV. Will see ...

Jeep Wrangler JL I've probably had the worst experience out of anyone that's received their JL BroncoRampag

Had I read this before I bought my jlu, I would have stuck to my tacoma! I haven’t had that big of issues but there have been several things I’ve had to get fixed. If you have an order for a new JL, think twice. Had my tacoma for 5 years, I’ll admit to buying new tires and changing the oil, It never went in for Anything else! Oh, I also bought my Jeep on 2/10/18. Odd coincidence!?

Do you know what the code is for the check engine light? Have we figured out how to get the EVIC to display the code on the new JL yet?
