Keep in mind that i have stock 33s. The Rubicon wheels are 17x7.5 and the new wheels are 17x9. Ill be upgrading to 35x12.5 tires which will add a little more width.

Anyone chime in and correct me.

Blacked out the muffler and tailpipe. Looks way better now imo.

....until it starts chipping:giggle:

Why not just buy a powder coated exhaust? I.e. Magna flow

Unless of course you had it powder coated yourself(pretty hard to do on high heat) it will start chipping

...just saying

Good luck!

Oh well, live and learn. Maybe I'll just touch it up if it starts chipping.

Had a fun day working on the jeep...

After installing my LED takeoffs over a year ago I see that @EgGreg has harnessed that elusive 4rth wire. Thanks @EgGreg!!

I immediately ordered one and installed it today. Unfortunately I couldn't get a micro2 fuse tap at my local auto parts store so I don't have them connected yet. I was going to throw them on a aux switch but figure I will wait for the tap. After all - I already waited a year. For now I have them installed and the wiring tucked and tied.

I also moved the fuse for the way back power outlet so that it only comes on when the ignition is on. I've been meaning to do this for a while. Last year I installed some additional USB ports on the back of the center console for folks in the back seat. I ran them off of the way back power using a JK Y connector and the USB ports have been running constant power. No issues but figured I would switch it since I was looking at my fuse bank.

Then I installed Mopar LED tail lights. Extremely simple plug and play install. Here is a before and after.

On the front side installed a Mopar bar, KC LEDs, and some grille inserts. The inserts were the hardest part. The KC lights were really easy. I ran them to Switch 4 on the aux switch bank using half of the harness that came with the KCs (the other half goes to the switch they provide). I haven't tried playing with the programming on ucconnect yet but they work right now when the ignition is on. I really like it but all of the black up front may take a minute to get used to - trying not to overdo it. Here is my front end before and after.

And here it is lit up - minus the halos - which will be on once I get my fuse tap.

Time for a beer and some dinner. Tomorrow I will swap back to soft top for the summer.

Cheers!

This is on my to do list, when you say chipping, what from, heat or rocks / gravel etc. from wheeling? And would it pay to use high heat paint like for engine blocks etc... thanks for any insight....:)
Your exhaust is exposed to the element in the most vulnerable spot.

Any knick or ding to the paint from driving(nevermind road salt) will either start eroding the painted surface(think of repeated driving then think of gradual sandblasting of a surface) or out right get chipped by rock or offroading.

Once the paint is chipped that's it, it will never stop peeling and chipping off, even if you touch it up - will not adhere to surface well enough.

Engines are 90% protected from the element which is why it may work for a little while(note I said a little while, maybe 2 years before it starts looking like sh*t).

I'm not even going to dive into proper prep of the muffler(or any surface) for paint to adhere to. That's a whole other topic. But even with very good prep, paint will not last on a muffler...trust me.

Which is why exhaust companies dont paint they powder coat. If they could paint they would, but there product would be garbage.

If you cant afford a powder coated exhaust leave your stock alone. Dont paint it, you will regret it.

To each his own however, good luck

Took the bumper caps off today. I’m still trying to decide if I like them off or not.
Unless you running 37" tires or larger I think caps off dont look right on Mopar steel bumper. Its too....(what's the word:movember:).....stubby.

To much space it leaves in between tire and frame my opinion

I have 35" tires...put them back on almost as soon as I took them off.

Take what I say with a grain of salt if so choose

If you do decide to paint good luck
I wouldn’t mind getting powder coated exhaust, but I really don’t want it any louder, I’m old school v8 muscle when it comes to exhaust sound, for me, v6 should perform and not be heard, lol.

Call Murph Industries in PA, ask for Craig he may do it for you.

He has a full schedule not sure he'd want to take on another project, especially coating an exhaust.

I'd say go Borla Touring if want quiet, but they are having a tough time with powder coating. I spoke to David Borla and his engineers couple months ago trying to give them advise on prepping the units and maybe use a primer before coating.

They just cant seem to get it done. There coating is just not up to par. Ask anyone with a black Borla exhaust.

Magnaflow is not loud, I have the unit on my Rubi(axle back). It is a compliment in sound to factory. Does not sound ricey at all.

Installed hood struts and a makeshift antenna mount for the MOPAR reinforcement kit. Firestik antenna with spring and quick release. Just need to tune the CB now.

The struts are great.

I painted mine several months with the high heat paint and no chipping or fading.
