I had a feeling you would say something when I posted this...

Part of this consideration is the type of work. I would expect a journalist to have impeccable writing mechanics. I expect engineers to have the same, given the nature of the work (contract writing, precision analyses, etc.).

You don't have to have a degree in journalism to be a good engineer . The ones we use the most are from Columbia and Mexico and there writing skills are atrocious but there floor plans and CAD drawings are spot on ! 90% of the time
