It was our jl. No big deal they took it back. Going to fix it and we will be back on the road. It happens I don't think it's anything that speaks to the overall reliability of the jl. Things break and that's just part of owning something mechanical. The dealer is great to work with and took us right in without question. Took us to lunch and even offered to put us up for the night since we are 6 hours away.
And that is what is called really good customer service. That dealer is where you should buy any new car in the future. I can only hope, if mine has issues, my dealer will be as good. As been said by others, please keep us updated on the fix. Oh, btw, since we are all so quick (myself included) to criticize the bad dealers, why don't you post the dealer's name here on the forum? The good ones need exposure too...

I couldn't say enough good things about these guys. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable through the whole process. If anyone needs anything give them a call. 1 724 785 8000 Talk to Ralph Erickson. They gave us a great deal on it.

Turned out it was a communication error between the trans and shifter module. They took a few hours with it and ended up swapping us out for another one they had so we could make it back to the shop for work tomorrow. We are happy with the results and I would say they went above and beyond to resolve the issue.

I wonder how the JL auto shift linkage differs from the JK. Is the JL "fly by wire"? I recall reading the JK had a shift cable.

Wait they gave you the other JL as a loaner until yours gets fixed or they swapped the car and you are keeping the new one?

I don't think so, the 8 speed in the Ram has/had some issues with not fully engaging in Park, which is why our 2017 Rebel if you go to shut it off and it's still in Drive will pause until the truck actually moves the dial into Park. With the WL I thought it had the shifter on a stalk but I don't know if the system is still electro/mechanical (probably) so I wonder if that is how it went haywire.

Having said that, I really like how the 8 speed shifts and feels. Our dealer has WL Unlimiteds on the lot and first chance I get I'm taking one for a drive and will see what happens if I try and shut off the Jeep with it still in Drive. Given what happened to Globe I probably wouldn't try this at home though just in case....
