Winch woes

I have been researching for what seems like forever and I haven't been able to get any answers...

lists both 5.4 and 6.3" for the width... does anyone out there have this winch that can verify for me? if it is 5.4 I can make it work, 6.3" I unfortunately cannot due to the opening size on my bumper.

The X20 lists multiple sizes as well - anyone out there to confirm it is 5.4"?

I know the XRC vs X20 has been debated before, but for anyone who has/had either - is the X20 worth the extra money for a wireless controller?

Any other winch options around the same price point that are under 6" wide? I can't seem to find any. I live in Kansas City, I'm never going to be a hardcore off roader - I just want a winch for the random one off situation where I might need it.

Have had warn and a couple smittybilt. Have the x20 10k syn on our JL and love it. Jeeps parked in the shop at home or else I’d go measure it for you.

I’ve read quite a few good reviews about the X20, the cable winch is on sale for 370 right now on amazon which seems like a legit deal even after I would spend $120 on a synthetic line...

If nobody else gets a measurement before you get back to the Jeep you would be doing me a major solid!

Not sure if this helps. Looks like the Rubicon is a bit deeper.

I've got the X2O 10k on my Rubi with the factory steel bumper and a JCR plate. I had to turn the solenoid mount around backwards but it fit fine.

I’m running an aftermarket bumper from a JK, seems to be a bit tighter. The first winch I bought was 6.4” wide and it fit just fine if the grill didn’t need to be on the Jeep

Rusty’s plate for the JL. It’s thicker than the JCR plate and I got it for about the same price $200

Dangit...is that on the top or just the widest part? I don't see anywhere on the X20 listing that it is that wide...

That’s the top. It was a rough measurement. It’s pouring right now so it’s probably not 100% accurate but it’s pretty close.

10-4 thanks for the help, not sure if it will work or not. Was really hoping that it was true to size at 5.4" because I think I could make it work. I guess I could always add washers to the bolts that hold on the front bumper to shim it out a bit, but that seems sketchy to me. Ideally I'll find a winch that is slim enough to fit in the opening...or simply have to buy a different bumper.

Thanks. I'm ordering the same winch I'm considering either Rusty's or the Maximus plate. Did you have any issues mounting the winch or plate to the bumper?
