Today, I stripped down my steel bumper and removed the front skid plate in preparation for a winch install Monday. It’s was very simple, just pulled out bolts and put a few back in. I’m loving the stubby look. Two things I noticed:

1. The bumper end caps scratched the bumper. No big deal but thought I’d mention it. I pulled the ends straight off. Maybe I should have angled them forward?

2. There’s a hole in the bumper only on the passenger side. Anyone know what it’s for?

I've seen people put a flag pole in it. Not sure if that's what it's for.

They're the Mopar Slotted Off-Road Wheels. They first appeared on the J-Wagon concept last year. I currently have them at a shop getting powdercoated black since they're too shiny and blingy for my taste. Here's a press photo of them.

They look like tungsten in that pic. TY

I just picked up my 19 JLU from the dealer this afternoon and I am thrilled to get going! Installed the car seat and transferred items from the old vehicle into the new.

It seems as if the 19 aftermarket items are still limited. Where can I find a stubby antenna that will fit? This is purely for aesthetics as I primarily listen to Howard Stern.

Where does everyone keep the little pouch of tools used for removing the doors? It has a strap on the back like it is meant to be stored somewhere specific. Obviously this can be thrown in the glove box or the tub but I do not want to risk losing.

There are a few threads on stubby antennas... use this in the Google > > > site:jlwranglerforums.com stubby antennae
Most owners replace the stock antennae with an aftermarket option since it's too flimsy & whippy. I replaced it since I have low-hanging branches near my driveway & it's brushed against them. Replacing it isn't only for looks.

The little pouch with the socket & Torx bits fits on a Molle panel if you don't want to keep it where the jack is.

I just finished upgrading my 2018 Wrangler dome light to the 2019 dome light. Now all 5 lights come on when the door is open, instead of just the middle one. Much better. Installation took 15 minutes and I could do it in half that time if I had to do it again. Below are two pictures showing the lighting before and after the upgrade. If you want to see how much brighter it would be in your 2018 Wrangler, just open the door, click on the 4 small lights and it will be the exact same amount of light.

I removed the entire sound bar front panel, by removing the 3 x T-25 screws from the front of it, accessing the screws sitting in the front drivers seat. After removing those screws, the rest of the panel is held up by clamps that snap out. I pried the panel out from the end and popped it off. The dome light came out with the panel as it’s clips actually help hold up the panel, i.e. they clip through the panel instead of clipping to the panel.

Bought the dome light from here, showed up in a week. https://www.moparoneonline.com/oem-parts/mopar-lamp-dome-6cd43tx7ag

So you simply bought the newer dome light and swapped it out and now all five lights come on instead of just the middle light? No extra wiring! just plug and play with new dome?

Nice install Burt. A couple of question if I may.

1) The use of the Maximus 3 hardware for securing the rack necessitated drilling through the hard top, correct?

2) What if any process, assuming you drilled, was involved in making the holes water tight?

3) While I wish you nothing but many years of use out of the rig, for those who might decide to sell someday, sans rack and hardware, might you have ideas on what you'd put into the holes in place of the hardware to waterproof and conceal them, assuming there are even holes to drill? Like maybe black cork in a tube on the outside and white cork on the inside?

Thanks.
Yes, drilling is necessary, 8 holes in total
The use a double rubber washer to seal the hole, when properly tighten this should be a perfect seal (raining at the moment so will do a leak check thiy morning)
And since the rooftop is fiberglass it’s fairly easy to patch if you ever want to sell it without rack

How do you like the shocks so far?
Absolutely amazing, the adjustability makes it driving great on all terrain, super soft off road and nice and stiff for highway, and everything in between

Yes, it was that simple.
