Parents had a great trip to NYC. Mum’s third trip, Dad’s first. Dad’s take,

“Well, it wasn’t on my bucket list, but it was pretty good. Your mother had a great time, so I had a great time.”

:cwl:

They saw the tree, the Rockettes at Radio City, a broadway show, and toured the city a bit.

I recommended ONE THING, and they didn’t go there. So far, I’m batting 0% - no one I tell about it goes to the Tenement Museum.

So under appreciated, and SUCH a great spot.

It's a lot harder in today's world to be a comedian or even write for shows like this ,,,,so many boundaries and Do's & Don'ts !

Buckwheat would have never made it in today's world nor would Pat the androgynous person of gender and I'm sure theres many more that just wouldn't make it in today's F'd up society

While I agree on your two examples, and that comedy these days is more sophisticated than (at least) Buckweat-type comedy, the nature of what makes something amusing has not changed. When show writers and comedians go in to attack mode and try to disguise it as comedy, it's almost never funny. It may not be entirely their fault (I'm fairly certain it's not) but not funny nevertheless. Take Tina Fey's "Sarah Palin" bits for instance, I always thought they were hysterical. Not so much Alec Baldwin's Trump. It just seems mean-spirited and forced.
