Alright. I have to vent for a second. Unless I have missed it, I am completely in shock. I have decided to only buy a JL from a dealer/salesman who points out the beer, errr drink, can/bottle holder stamped into the tailgate. I can't believe no one mentioned it yet. The most valuable standard feature on the JL imo. Cheers :)
What, which side of the rear bumper? If its on the right side, it may be the removable access for installation of a swing out tire carrier. I know the JK Steel bumpers had this feature.

Soooo, I just came from the Jeep Dealership in Tacoma after I noticed they had posted a Rubicon and Sahara on their web site. As I was getting out of my car, the salesman came up to me before I had even closed the door and asked how he could help me. I asked if they had the new Wrangler. He had a deer-in-the-headlight look and said "uhh, we won't get those in until May or June". So I asked the next salesman and he had to go to a back room to find out if they had the new "redesigned" Wrangler. He came back and said they won't have them until April. I thanked him and walked back to my car. Arrrrg.

Thanks everyone for the photos. I know the Wrangler will get here sometime, but I'd like sooner than later.

No, it is an indentation on the top of the tailgate, right above the metal info placard. It is hardly a holder, but you could certainly set a beer there. Neat little simple feature!

As I hear of these first hand accounts and compare them to the information at jeep.com regarding the status of JLs at specific dealers, I've come to realize that more accurate information can be had by borrowing my kid's magic eight ball and asking it:

"magic eight ball, are there any dealers in (supply State/County) that have JLs on the lot?"

There is a JLUR in route too the Brooksville Jeep dealer with a Premium Soft top. First one I have seen out for delivery without a hard top. Brooksville is north of Tampa
Ooh I hope so, I ordered my Rubi with premium soft top, so hopefully that type of build is ready to go through the line.
Any pics?

I hate to see them waste so much time building in NAV as per usual updates will probably be $100 or more per year and most everyone will use their phone anyway unless the NAV actually has Jeep trails built into its maps - then it's awesome. :)

(Yes, I've taken a wrong turn in the San Juans more than once when the road that looked like the more heavily traveled one at a signless junction turned out to be the wrong one.)

Yes, I don't agree with you about using phone as I like built in unit. That said, I think for the price you pay updates should be a lot cheaper. I have a garmin with big screen and I get free map updates and traffic for life.
I find it hard to believe any manufacturer system would do a better job than Waze, once again except for the Jeep trail thing.

Looking at other FCA vehicles, annual map updates are purchased through a third party site (http://chryslergroup.navigation.com/home/en_US/ChryslerNA/USD) and are $149 (+$3.95 shipping.)

Test drove a black with tan Sahara JLU last night. My first impression was how great all the trim details are...very impressive! The only thing I didn't like is the tan interior color...it's a little too yellow for my taste. Didn't get to drive it too far because it was super low on gas but it rides great and seems quiet on the inside. I definitely don't have any more concerns about the JLU becoming my new daily driver.

Crazy expensive isn't it
I don't know why manufacturer-installed GPS business model is still stuck in 2001 before a gazillion free and low-cost GPS apps came to be. Especially since they perform better than what comes in cars these days. It's too bad. Still, built-in GPS is a nice to have as backup.

I use an application called "Here WeGo" (formerly called "Here Maps"). It runs on Android maybe some other OS devices. I'm not a big data usage guy, so I like being able to download state/country maps, and not have to worry about data connection or usage. I used "Here WeGo" on a trip through Germany/Austria/Italy with no data connection on my phone - worked great. It has some other functionality like traffic stuff - but data is needed for that.

Overall I tend to like certain electronic items decoupled for max flexibility and performance. For example, I have tried so called "smart TV's", but few can match the htpc that I built for max performance/flexibility displaying content or doing pretty much anything else a PC does. Likewise not sure I want to buy into a Jeep system, or have to pay for functionality as a service. I have a very bright $90 tablet with nice functionality that I use in the car sometimes. Would be cool if auto makers instead designed a spot on the dash where an owner can fit a standardized tablet device as desired, and then easily swap out as tech or needs change.
