I love these flashlight mods @MORTON . What concerns me though--and I admit to speaking from ignorance on this subject matter--is the effect that cold temperatures can have on the ability of such device's batteries to provide power. I imagine this not only varies among manufacturers, but that the reduced lumens as a result is better than no flashlight at all.

I have something like this: https://www.harborfreight.com/390-lumen-magnetic-slim-bar-folding-led-worklight-63958.html .. an LED light stick that is rechargeable. I keep it in the cargo tub and have a long USB cable plugged in, of all places, to the 12V cigarette lighter in front via a cigarette lighter to USB adapter that charges its batteries.

There was a method to my madness here. The cigarette lighter I have in the cargo area is always on, unlike the one in front. I didn't want the battery for the flashlight charging when the rig isn't on, as little current as it draws, possibly draining the rig's batteries. While this outlet in the rear can be changed to be on only when the rig is on via a switch of a fuse (i.e. accessory mode, it's in the manual) I need this cargo area outlet (not provided in all models of JL) "always on" to run a dash camera that taps into both it and an accessory mode power source to let the camera know when the rig is on versus stopped and parked. Like most decent dash cams, and unlike a flashlight, the camera will turn off if the rig's batteries drop below a user customizable power threshold.

I wouldn't mind going that route, I like the idea. While it doesn't get that cold here in Florida that would still be a good idea if thinking of doing a trek up north for the winter in the mountains.

I want to do this in terms of front facing cameras:

Added my 35x12.5R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Fuel Anza rims with a +6mm offset. Tires stick out past the fenders about 2" giving it a much more aggressive look. Could't be happier with the way it looks right now.

RussJeep1: Good info. Also, do you know if there is a way to change the USB port (1) next to the aux audio input so it is only on when the vehicle is on or running instead of always having power even when everything is off? I looked in the manual but can't find anything on it. It turns off automatically after 1 hour, but I'd like it to turn off immediately. I also looked in settings in the Uconnect system to see if there was an option.

The only thing I saw in the manual about this is "The Smart Charging USB ports provide power to your device up to an hour after the vehicle is turned off". I guess that's better than it never turning off.
