Hello Christopher, thanks for you inquiry. One thing that most leather workers don't do is use someone else's idea or patterns without consent and I am one of those. So before going forward, I would look for Bob's thumbs up. While I wouldn't do everything the Bob did in the same manner, to me the concept is his first.

Mark - I think you may have a little side business here due to Bob LOL. I would definitely jump on one as well for my Sig.

I wonder if there was a different mounting technique using magnets or temp fasteners so one could pull the holster on and off if needed.

Many Thanks to Bob, and I tip my hat to him .... for others, please understand there is a big difference between designing and building something for personal use (in which Bob did a great job), than making and selling a commercial product. So some statements below are coming from a strictly business standpoint. Here is the good and the bad....
The Good ... i "think" that I can design a version that would not require drilling into the center console for mounting. I will need to prototype some concepts first to verify.
The Bad ...I may need to add a retention strap from a product liability standpoint. Last thing I want is a loaded firearm flying around anyones vehicle in case of an accident. The strap would be to insure the firearm remains in the holster, similar to a thumb break. The maybe Not So Bad .. However, I may be able to make this removable with a "remove at your own risk" clause.
The "Probably doesn't matter" not all states legally allow you to carry in such a manner. In most cases like this, it is up to the user to determine legal usage of products. The seller or manufacturer is responsible for determination of legal sales.
Give me a little time and when I have a window of opportunity I will prototype a version or two. If all works well, I will post some pics for input ... stay tuned

Depending upon your seat position and knee angle, the passenger side version is often a preferred placement to eliminate contact and maximize grip clearance. A G17 is no problem.
